Great looking tank!

What happens if a frag falls and land behind the rocks? Are you able to get anything out w/o head in water?

I have been keeping bluestipes for many years, these I have maybe for 2 years. I may have had the female longer, I forget. They, like all pipefish only live a few years. The male is pregnant here as he always is.

I don't have a sump so I don't have an overflow. I screened my powerheads.

My favorite pipefish. Hardy once acclimated and perfect for reef tanks, but unfortunately relatively hard to find and sensitive shippers.
I have two breeding pairs now and will see if I can raise some of the babies.
The younger pair of which I know that they are for sure from Africa will go into a special breeding tank.
My older pair is in my 40B which overflows into my refugium (once it's done) and it should be possible to harvest some larva there as well. If it wasn't for the mysis larvae should be able to survive on their own.

Mine like to hang out near the Jebao 25. At first I was worried, but they seem to know what they are doing. Also no issues with the Glass-Holes overflow in the new 40B.

I am sure you can raise them if they were in a tank of their own. I also don't think I could see the new born babies as they probably look like a short eyelash.
Of course my eyelashes are very long so they hit the top of my bald head.

Here my second D. excisus pair during feeding while still in QT.
They are clearly not afraid off bigger and more agressive fish and quite capable to get their share of the food.

The janssi are a bit more finicky eaters as they won't go well after food on the ground. The Bluestripes will also pick Mysis and other frozen foods off the ground.
BTW, these guys were not trained to eat Mysis but started it all on their own.

The shrimp cracks me up. He'll pick up a grain of sand, move it a centimeter, and act like he finished the hardest home improvement project ever.
