Your Long Term Review Jebao DC Controllable Return Pump ?

i use various jebao dc pumps. i recently bought the last batch of the dc not dct versions as they still can be controlled with the apex 0-10v input. love them. service them every 3 month. have the return pumps seated on foam padding and the return is running silicone tubing to reduce noise. cant hear them at all. for the price unbeatable.

i will look into the ecotech drivers in the future doh. good procing and top control and quality. :-)

fish-street even has a new dc pump on their website now. got their newsletter last week.

Guys Nothing Last forever and simple if you can get this pump for under $150 then just buy 2, This was if it does fail you will have an extra pump ready to go! There are too many reviews stating the quietness of this pump and lower power power consumption with people saying they have used this pump for over a year. Sound like it could be at least worth a shot to purchase.
 
As an update, I posted back in January that my DC-6000 had been running a little over a year (my 2nd, after the first one died in two weeks). It's now been almost 2 years and still running strong.
 
I'm using a DCT9000 as my return pump on my 40 breeder with 20 gallon sump. It's on the lowest level. It was noisy at first but I switched to vinyl hose and used some silicone pads to sit between the pump and where it touches the sump. It's a lot more silent that the Sicce Syncra pump I was using before and I love how it starts up slowly instead of on at full blast.

I am using a dc3000 to run my reactors. This is a little more noisy but still better than the Sicce. This could be because the reactor cables are touching the sides of the sump and my cabinet is wooden. Im planning on switching to silicone tubing to silence the pump a little.

Just to update, I've got 3 old DC12000 pumps running for more than 18 months now. Two are in sumps. One is a 400g system with a chiller in the backyard all run off one pump and the other is a 250g system. The third is run externally on a closed loop with an OceansMotions and a 6' head. They have all run issue free 24/7. The external pump has never leaked and still runs dead quiet and fairly cool... cooler than the giant Reeflo pump I had before that cost 2 times as much and made too much noise as well!

I just pulled the OM out of service as it needed new magnets in the drive unit so I looked into the external DC12000 pump as well. It looks almost new, inside and out.

And just so you know I'm not a big Jebao fanboy, I have used a number of Jebao wavemaker pumps and I have not cared for the failure rate. The only saving grace is I got them in a big group buy and they were dirt cheap. I'll probably switch to a gyre or two when the next Jebao WP40 fails.
 
Just got my third DC/DCT12000 for the big tank build.The other 2 have worked without a hitch for 3 an 6 months respectively.
 
I just started running a DCS12000 and it's super quiet... puts my old Sicce Syncra HF to shame. I already have two WP40s so I'm used to the value versus longevity conundrum. So far, Jaebo is winning out.
 
I'm using a DCT 9000 and a DC3000 for 9 months now and both have been running without a hitch, I'm about to disconnect them for their first ever full cleaning.
 
I purchased my DC9000 (generation 1) in Jan of 13. It has been running on two different tanks somewhere around 60% as the controller at the lowest setting runs the pump at about 40% of max (assuming linear curve which is probably unrealistic. This was my main return pump.

That being said, it just died (controller IN the pump).

So I ran it for almost 24 months without issues, including FOD jams (aka snails in the intake).

I'm looking at one of the newer DCT or even DCS (may aqua engine from Reef Breeders) but haven't decided.

I have had other pumps (all AC) run longer but produce much more heat. As the main pump is one of the key components, I always try to have a backup somewhere.

I probably have enough back up stuff to start another tank. Hmmm, Honey I need to go to fish store :bdaysmile:
 
After a few months use the dct 8000 is leaking large ammounts of stray voltage. It could be because I adjusted the power higher that I am now noticing it. Fish street will not replace it.
 
My tanks is overall very quiet but tje DCT12000 would generate noticeable whining sound and volume would goes up or down depending on the % output.
 
Just came across this thread. I have had a DC12000 running about 2 years now. It has been ran both external and internal with no issue at all. With my latest tank build I actually took this pump and moved it to my mixing station outside running externally and got another one for the new tank. For the people saying you cant control it on with your apex, I have read a few articles on how to do it and looks to be done the same way you would wire up one of the WP pumps.
 
Reading along as I am looking for a lower wattage higher flow pump. I have had 2 Jebao RW-8's for well over a year now that replaced 2 wp-40's. Never have had any issues with these pumps at all.

Can anyone tell me what the actual wattage is on a DCT12000 in use at approximately 70-80%? my current Sicce Synchra Pro pump is using ~94 watts. It's quiet and all but it is just a little small in that it takes some doing to get my dual reactor to start. My return tees off to a small fuge and reactor. I originally had a Sicce HF10 on this tank and it was a bit too much however the Synchra Pro 1900 is not quite enough.

Looking for higher flow with the same or less wattage.
 
Mine has been going strong no problems for 14 months.

In regards to head loss, these pumps don't do height, they have low speed impellers that push large quantities of water with each turn, compared to an Iwaki high speed, low volume, which means they are great energy savers but can't push water high at all, they are not to be used for basement pumps. You won't get any flow out of them.
 
I have the dc1200 in my sump and regarding noise, well, it depends on wich speed I am running it.
For example running so the 4th led is lit it is almost silent, the 5th hums a little, the 6th a little less and the 7th and 8th silent.
Running below the 3rd led the pump back flows and is ineffective even though the outlet is less than 1 1/2 meters above the pump.
Also, why is it not designed so you can fit rubber suckers to its base? The integrated feet are poor, have no grip and transmit vibration noise.
 
Well, it doesn't sound too bad, especially for the price.

How long have you had yours ?

Have your tried placing it on ant-vibration material ?
I've use some extra sound proof rubber from when I installed my stereo, speakers and sub-woofers in my truck, and it works great. I also some to cushion the tank on the stand.

Any updates from the rest of you ?
 
I'm looking into buying a 1200.

Did the recent upgrades make the cleaning any easier, quieter and/or more reliable?
 
I have 3 of the original DC12000 pumps and they have all been dead quiet and run cool. One is even an external pump and it barely gets warm to the touch. In over 2 years I've only had to clean one and it was easy. I have a 4th DC12000 that has just been sitting on a shelf in case I ever need a back up!
