Zeovit - System

The results of my water tests:

Phosphate .18 (I have been feeding a new school of tiny chromis frozen oyster eggs and frozen rotifers for the past 10 days. The reading was also taken after I dumped in my food for the evening. This is perfect for documenting the zeo process)
Nitrate .5
Alk 7.3
Ca 430
Potassium 410

Emptied my Zeo Reactor

300ml of new stones before putting in my reactor

This is where my zeostart is dosed

300ml of stones are now all new. I added 6 drops of zeobac. My zeostart3 is on a doser. The zeostart dose (1.2ml) is broken up into 4 separate doses throughout the day.

I'm wondering if we should start a new thread?

hi cuna, i have been following this...just a bit curious as i do not see any small stones/pebbles from the bag in this cup or in the cup you use.......do you seperate them out and only use the big stones????

thanks

I think they are seperated and placed in a bag on top. thats what most of us do, as the small ones can clog the reactor.

Wow, this thread has been a great read. I wasn't remotely interested in zeo, but you have my attention. Ultra clean water.....lots of feeding......sounds like a perfect situation. I notice a lot of zeo tanks are SPS heavy, how do other corals do with zeo? Specifically zoas?

Also, seems some of you have ridiculously high phos. My nano runs around .04 with nothing more than water changes and some media. Can't imagine phos that high, yet you guys report no algae. Having trouble wrapping my head around that. Anyway, will be following. Most interesting thread I've gone through in a long time. Thanks for the contributions!

its the SPS tank that requires the low nutrients and ... to color up, so thats why u see mostly SPS tanks.

Soft corals do fine mostly, some of the zeo additives work on soft corals too, like B-balance.

with Zoas ... they need feeding besides just light [I should say more feeding] so the Zeo system will allow for more food input. but I have seen reports of Zoas not doing that well in Zeovit tank with no feeding.

I have high phosphates but haven't seen much or any algae, I am scratching my head about this too.

Have you checked your kit? I recently had an issue with a test kit. Before freaking, I checked against another kit and some standardized solution, and turns out my test was bad. Good thing I didn't over-react, LOL! It was an Alk kit BTW. I have heard that there has been some issues with some phos tests as well.

I think its accurate, I get consistent readings and my solution appears slightly colored when its high. Also my SPS aren't doing so hot, so I would think it is in line to the actual level.

Zeostart 3 possible overdose

Zeostart 3 possible overdose

Hello

I added a fresh bottle of Z3 last evening. I am using a BRS dosing pump. I placed the tubing in the new bottle same way I always have. Checked timer, programs were set to run for one minute four times a day. This gives me the amount needed. 4.6ml.

Today i came home from work to find the 500ml bottle empty. Is it possible the pump formed a siphon and drew the Z3 out even without the pump moving?

Should i be concernend with dosing 500ml of z3 into a 500 gallon system?

Everything looks great

Hi Mike,

Hope all is well!

The BRS pumps will not form a back siphon. Once the pump is off, no more liquid will move through the tubes. You may want to keep an eye on the pump when your timer is off. It should not move at all. There is a possibility that the pump is still on even when the timer is off. This would happen to me on certain outlets on my Reef Keeper Elite. As for the start3, you may not see any negative effects (other than the cost of buying a whole new bottle), but you should do a water change just to be safe. "Dilution is the solution to pollution" as Julian Sprung says. I did the same thing a while back. I dosed half a bottle because I had the outlet set to the wrong timer. I did a series of water changes and was fine.

Keep me in the loop on the outcome!

Warmest Regards,
James
