Zoa eating nudis

Besides manual removal, what's the best treatment for getting rid of zoa eating nudis? I am re-aquascaping the tank, so I'll be able to dip the rocks and zoas in something. Is there any special remedy? Secret potions? Anything you've had success with? Can I dip in FW? Will the zoas survive a FW dip? Will anything kill the eggs that are still in the egg sacs?

potassium permagranate wil kill the eggs too. Its the oly thing I am aware of........but it can be tough to find, and it is dangerous and needs measured very accurately.

if you can remove the colonies easily they wont be too tough to beat without the potassium.

get a nice bright light or headlamp, and magnifying glass and make sure you get all the nudis and eggsacs manually. repeat in a week........if you find any more...repeat again

I agree with flyyguy - I had a problem with nudis on a frag I bought from a LFS. One freshwater dip was not enough to get rid of the eggs and I had never seen these nudis before so I didnt know to be so careful about them. For ten days I took every specimen in my frag tank out, dipped them and examined them under a lighted magnifying glass to find all the egg sacks. I finally got them all, but it taught me a valuable lesson. Nothing goes into any of my tanks unless they are not only dipped but careful examined. It's a hassle, but you can beat those little pests. I've done some research on the potassium and I have a friend who conducted an experiment with it under the guidance of Eric Borneman and I have to say, that's some pretty harsh stuff.

I had nudis breeding on one of my colonies. I did the potassium permanganate dip, and now there are no more nudis. I did remove any I could see, then dipped to kill eggs.

You can get potassium permanganate in liquid form from Marine Depot under the name Permoxyn.

I've used potassium permanganate for a few years in FW tanks to dip plants to remove snail eggs. Wear gloves and old clothes, because it stains badly.

i got a yellow coris wrasse and he ate EVERY single one
and my tank was packaed with them too with eggs EVERYWHERE
now my tank is completely clear of zoa nudis
that was a stressful time, i heard they dont all do that though and more hit and miss
glad i made a hit

Thanks to those who gave their personal experiences, and thanks for the thread link. I tried to search RC for "Zoa eating nudi" but came up with only 2 threads. I'm glad you remembered the name of the thread with the zoa dip. It was an excellent read. I appreciate all of your help folks!
