wheres the update????

(i know im picky)

I second this. I would love to know how the frag tanks are progressing :)

:) Tank has been doing great, I got a CA reactor in a few weeks ago since I decided to move all of my sps frags out of my main tank. I made about 30 blue zoos frags (tubs, true blue, blue w/ red skirts, blue w/ green skirts) when the tank was first up. I think I lost about 8-10 frags due to it coming off of the plugs. But most frags have about gone from 2-3polyps to about 4-6, basically doubled in size. I've even re-fraged about 6 of the frags 4 days ago. I do have a few of the blues posted on my site but its just for the sake of having a few cool things for sale. I’m holding on to most of my blues for long term propagation right now. Other then the blues I only have a few other polyps that are being propagated. Maybe 10 frags of some really really nice paly, I’m sure you have seem a few pictures I have posted on other threads here on the zoo forum. I’m only going to bother with proping things that are considered as rare since there isn’t much profit in propping normal $10-$15 zoo frags. I’m going to give the prop system another 4-6 months to see how well it works out before deciding weather I’ll keep this long term.

As of now only about 1/3 of the system is being use for true coral propagation (sps and zoos). ¼ is being used to house frags currently available for sale. The rest of the system is being used to baby site other people’s coral. What I have come to realize that another good way to support this hobby is having a coral sitting business. I have people coming out of the woodworks asking me to either baby-sit their corals/fish or sell their corals/fish for them. Pretty soon I’ll have to start charging people for rent!!!!

Ohh and instead of the luminark 400watt, I’ve decided to go with one 150 watt HQI and one 250 watt hqi for lighting; reason being is flexibility. I can light the two side of the tank individually rather then the entire tank. Instead of 400watt 8hours a day I can light the side that is propping the zoos and sps 10 hours with 250 watt and the side that is just holding corals and what not 4 hours with 150watt. I believe that the two would also give me a better spread then the 400watt luminark. At first I thought that the luminark had a good spread but come to realize that its not tat much better then a single 250 DE Hamilton. The 400watt I was using had a ballast problem and had to be returned so I’ve been using a 250watt pendent to light the entire system. I’ve notice that the coverage compared to the 400watt on the luminary isn’t a huge different.
