Z's and P's (reefing ) love , starting to wane

I know exactly what ya mean 650....I started collectiong some higher $$ polyps, and quickly got tired or trying to keep track of all these tiny frags of even tinier polyps....

I am leaning towards seeing what I get and keeping the larger polyp guys myself. I pretty much gave away my 8 polyp frag of rastas.....they werent what I expected at all. Quickly stopped liking them.

I am still going to snatch up any cool larger polyped zoa/paly I see, but as far as colecting "whats in"- I am done. I am tired of squinting into my tank to see all my "cool" frags, lol!!

I thought collecting would be cool! Not really....

Go through 2 tank crashes (100gal and 37gal ) loosing 98% of all coral and pretty much all the fish you've collected over the years..... that makes you want to quit, then when your trying to rebuild that old collection it now cost of that same polyp cost's more than what you paid for it as a WHOLE colony. I've pretty much given up trying to recollect all that I've lost.

The beginning of this year we lost power for 2 days crashed all three of our tanks (30g, 20g, 12g). We had to move everything into a 28 gallon rubbermaid at my parents house for 5 days. We lost a ton of SPS, some LPS, some zoa colonies that I did not have room for, and 4 fish.

We had to throw out all the sand in the tanks and recycle the live rock. We restocked the tanks and picked up red bugs from a LFS and are now fighting some flat worms.

I was able to pick up my zoa collection from a local LFS and through ebay. Bay Corals has auctions that end just about every sunday and they have a ton of zoas that go for a ton less than market price (they have purple, red, and blue hornets, yellow jackets, rastas, chong bongs, magicians, maryjaces, etc.).

Yeah I know them. I'm pretty much done with the single polyp pieces... frags maybe but I'm done paying an arm and a leg in general.

I have not purchased any new corals in a very long time. I have wanted to give up this hobby on several occasions. I have had so many problems recently its driving me nuts. I have been losing corals left and right. The only thing that keeps me going are the meetings we have every month. They motivate me to go home and work on the tank.

I have been lurking in the shadows. I still have a few zoa colonies left but not like I once had. I might have 5 or 6 left. I would tell you what they are but then they would melt on me. Seems like whenever someone asks me about one of my corals it dies. I think I will pick back up in a month or 2.I will buy new bulbs and get reenergized back into the hobby.
