10 micron filter bags

Their real use is for straining out impurities out of bio diesel. I use duda diesel .com, but I also buy a lot of them.

I will tell you this..there is a lot of bad (SOME GOOD) mostly bad advice on this site when it comes to water and it's treatment/conditioning.

I am going to only dose with LC periodically. I will use the 10 mic filters for that limited period of time so I hopefully will be ok with the metal rings. The plastic sometimes doesnt do well in the washer. Viking Dr FWIW I made no recommendations of these, just replying with a source I used.

I'm not a big fan of comments like this. Like any hobby in life, you'll get good and bad advice. I'm not defending the use of filter bags with metal rings in a salt water aquarium, but saying that the majority of the advice on this board is bad is just incorrect and out of line.

The success that I've had in this hobby for the past 5 years has largely been due to concepts and strategies that I first read about on here. I've had success with BRS filter bags, but I still read threads like this one to see if I'm missing out on something. I'll probably read more and try the Pentek filter bags, but I wouldn't be surprised if other don't simply because your post comes off as arrogant and condescending.

I use the 10 micron bags with the stainless steel rings. Been using them for a long time now. I get 8 x 16" 10 micron bags from Schwarz & Sons @ 56 Oxford Strret.

Research stainless steel use in reef aquaria ;)

thanks to all. Sounds like stainless steel isn't something to stress over, Some folks have had higher quality stainless steel submerged for years with no issue.

Being that this sock will go above water I'm not worried.

thanks!

I've been using the metal ringed bags for some time with no ill effects. In fact, the rings have rusted and are poking through the bags. Look up "ferric oxide" (as in GFO). ;)
