10 months AI Sol Blue LEDs- take a look

They are my favorite fish! The male in particular has a "personality". The female is shy and doesn't follow me around like he does. They have a breeding area that they are protective of. When I clean the acrylic they attack the magnet if it gets too close to the sand. The male will chase it around the whole left side of the tank. Awesome fish. I have not seen any aggression towards any tank mates in all the years I've had them.

Paul I have been watching your tank on YouTube for quite awhile now, it is amazing!! What would you say is your most unique fish in the tank?

Wow, love the layout changes you did last May

In November I had some pics taken and I made a new vid . They are not public yet, but I will post links in a week or so. You will be able to see that layout at it's best.
Very soon afterwards in December I had to do some major re-aquascaping because things were starting to look very overcrowded. I am still in the process. I will post a new vid when I am finished and the corals have had a chance to grow back. I really hacked back and re-located a lot of them.

Beautiful display mate, just to get this straight - your lighting is purely LED blue and white with no further artificial lighting. No other color but blue and white atm ?

Thanks for the quick reply, i just ordered 2 x 120W blue/white LED units to go either side of my radium bulb after reading your thread and will angle them in and color match the halide with the separate color dimmers. Having only run radiums on all my tanks it will be interesting to see what happens but reefers such as yourself inspire those of us that are nervous about venturing into the LED light field.

I think the reason for that is because there seems to be a wide variety of results. I know some reefers who are very unhappy with the colors they get with their corals under LEDs. There must be some other factor combined with the lighting switch that gives some people problems. My corals took off gangbusters when I switched.

Paul, with so much discussion and disagreement online about whether LEDs are a good long-term choice for coral coloration, I was starting to experience a crisis of confidence in my AI Sols...until I saw your tank! Thanks for saving me a thousand bucks! I stand in awe of your accomplishment. From one (transplanted) Massachusetts man to another, your tank is wicked ****ah!

My tank is not as deep as yours, but I've already mapped out a plan to very slowly bring my lighting levels up to about 75/75/75 or so over the next few months using your technique of introducing short periods of intense lighting.

If I had any idea how important this acclimation issue was going to be, I would have written down precisely what I did. Who knew?
I think duration of peak intensity is important.

Your right. It's just that the most common question I get is from frustrated reefers who have switched to LEDs and are having a hard time with acclimation and coral colors. It would have been great for them if I had better documentation of the exact intensities and timers that I used during the process.
I am 2 years using the Sols, and the coloration of the corals is the best yet. Maybe I will post all of the timers and see if anyone else gets good results with the settings.

Your tank is always a beautiful site. Your whole presentation, the sunroom, the 360 view, and of course your animals, just amazing.

You have really stayed on top of your game for a long time now. That is to be admired.

Glad to hear of your success with the LEDs for two years now.
