Unfortunately my 10" Naso somehow got stuck to my mp60 Powerhead and looks like graded cheese. He is eating and acts though nothing has happened. Any proactive treatment or do you think it will heal meaning the indentations pop back out?? I am pretty bummed about it.

Wow! How did a fish that large and powerful get stuck to an mp60? I have one also, and on the highest setting it doesn't pull hard enough to suck a fish in unless they are weakened. I would just keep it in the display and try to keep the environment as stress-free as possible. Keep an eye on those indentations... I would worry that something might have been damaged internally but I don't think there's much you can do except try to facilitate healing.

ah man ! was he healthy before ? your tank is prety large for it to happen ... maybe the sohal was chasing him into that corner or something.

this happened to a rather large blue tang I had. [but my tank is much smaller so ... ] and he did fine after, he did hide in the rocks for like an hour and came out at feeding time, and the bumps went away in less than a week.

I had a pipefish and an eel that got shredded in MP60 though :(

it is extremely healthy and just swims causal all day. It dosent even move from my hand when I put it in there. They seem to swim against and into the flow and back flow and I think it must have sucked it in. I threw a sheet of nori in there it is was its usual pig. I will just keep it well feed and hope it fully heals.

Sounds like a good plan, keep on posted on his recovery.

No the sohal and naso are tank mates and cruise the crest every night together. Usually if it is sick or has a case if ich it wll sit in the caves all day but since installing a UV I have not saw signs of ich and it is eating and as illustrated in the picture following me. I think it was a victim of circumstance. Thanks for the feedback.

From what I see of the fish and his other side in the reflection, he doesn't look all fat and full. Looks like his bones are sticking out. Also, perhaps from the pump, his fin has a chunk missing. I would look further into it.

That is actually the texture of the skin. The fish is fat. Yes its fins were stuck in the pump. Point taken though and I will keep an eye on it. Thanks.

Dang due that sucks , i just lost my 2 1/2 inch hippo to my mp10. Dumb fish would sleep right next to it. I Knew it was only a mater of time :(

Any fish that gets sucked into a pump is weak and probably sick, I have a ton of flow 35Kgph+/- and very small cleaner gobys that would be chopped sushi if there were to stray too close to my MP60, I have had them for over a yr now

Agreed I have two MP60 and two MP40 and the only fish that get stuck to the power heads are weak fish on verge off going to the big aquarium in the sky IMO.

Lost a fat copperband in a similar fashion my guess was mine was close picking on something near the pump when is switched modes and just got caught in a unusual way and couldn't free himself in time.

Good luck with him

That's not necessarily true.

Not that there is any comparison between a blenny and a tang, but I have lost a perfectly healthy tailspot blenny to an MP10 on two different occasions. They could not resist the lure of the luscious green algae on the powerhead, and in the end it was their undoing.

I too have lost blennies to powerheads, and it isn't just the open style vortechs. I had a flametail swim into a koralia somehow :( They are too curious for their own good.

+1....strong suction usually doesnt get healthy fish

Mp60s put off some flow that's for sure but there is no way it should suck any 10"+ tang to it. Judging from the picture I would guess that naso to be closer to 12-14" so I would question health, especially since I'm sure the naso has been in the tank for quite some time and I can't think the MP60 was a recent purchase either

Hi All - The Naso made a full recovery. The fish loves to eat out of my hand so for a couple weeks I put the green net in to scare the other fish away and hand fed the NASO back to health. BTW the impressions healed 100%

Thanks for the feedback.
