1000 Gallon Build- Here we go- Lots of Pictures

It is so good it's almost a lie!! I wonder if you ever take your life for granted? I really hope not as it's more than a dream what you have. I hope you continue to let us see things even in months to come. You can never have too many pictures of these things. Your office is about the same size as the footprint of my home hahahaha

I was fortunate to have a great team that delivered the tank. Tom, from the rigging company sent me some photos that he took as well on the day of the install that Im attaching below as I was not there the entire time as I had to head back to the office:

Here was the space ready for the tank delivery. As you can see, the pipes that lead to the fish room have been trimmed. They put the tank on the stand and put the whole thing in place at the same time so they had to lift the tank and the stand over the pipes:

Here is the stand that has already been brought to the house. The tank is coming next. The bottom of the stand has been modified to accommodate all the plumbing that will go in the ground:

Here is the tank being brought in via fork lift. They are going to lift it and put it on the stand in the house:

Now that the tank and stand are together- the tank is supported by 3/4 inch plywood underneath, they moved the tank into its final resting place:

The stand accommodated the plumbing exactly!

Here is the view of the tank from the front door as you enter the house:

Final positioning and leveling of the tank:

Installed!

and Level!

Looks like a very expensive build. It'll be a great addition to the home though. Definitely a showpiece.

Thanks Aqua. Expensive is a relative term. For the amount of joy that I hope it brings my family, you truly cannot put a cost on that.

Dang, it just keeps getting better! Is that 1" Acrylic?

I specified 1.5 inch acrylic on the walls and 1 inch on the top and bottom. The bottom is supported by 3/4 inch plywood between the tank and the stand.

This is going to be such a awesome tank when it is complete. I am so jealous.

thank you. Im excited about the build and hope to have water in the tank in the coming weeks.

No doubt! There were a bunch of naysayers about ATM, but that looks like one incredibly overbuild (like it should be) tank. I don't see how that thing could ever bust a seam. Awesome tank!

House, tank, sump, everything's looking like a dream. Thank you for letting us live vicariously through you.

ATM built the tank. It wasnt without its challenges. Im just glad the tank is built and in place so I can put that saga of the build behind me.

Visit your sump today [emoji6]

I stay by Klaus at Royal Exklusive today and at the desk is your big sump. Hurry up it will be finished fast [emoji1] [emoji106]

Greetings

Klaus at Royal Exclusiv and the rest of the team have been incredible to deal with. They are working hard to get me my sump to the exact specs that I need.

Was going to say...

We have 1" on a 470 gallon tank...

Tank's looking great!

The house looks so huge it makes the tank look small ;)

Cabinets should really help with that :D

I meet with the cabinet guy on tuesday. Its the same company that did the kitch and bar cabinets on either side so everything will match well. Should be fairly simple for the cabinets. Just need lots of access top and below.

Epic in every degree. Your private courtyard looks like a tranquil place in the event that you need an alternate area to unwind.

thank you. I agree. It was a requirement for my wife and I to have a nice place to relax in the evenings.

very nice....still following.
thanks for following.

HEY, someone stole my tank...lol Epic build ^5
Uh oh- better call the police!

Looking good! Getting closer, water soon :D
Not soon enough. But yes- we are moving nicely not only on the whole tank build build but also on the whole house. Starting in July, all we will have left is flooring, finishes and landscaping. its all coming along- 2.5 years of planning and building.

I never take anything for granted. The most important things in life are my family. We have worked hard and we are a close knit group. I wanted to create something that my kids, parents, cousins, aunts, uncles, etc etc could have an excuse to come visit. Id be honored to continue to showcase and upload photos. Thank you for the kind words and Im greatly appreciative and humbled by the great comments from everyone.

Great looking set up. Just curious if you are going to cycle and finish the setup of the tank while construction is still underway or if you are going wait until everything is finished?

Right now I don't have my sump. It is scheduled to be delivered in the coming weeks - lets say end of July to be safe. As soon as the sump arrives, Ill probably start cycling- but honestly what it will depend more on is how far along the rest of the construction is. I don't want to uncover the tank while there are a bunch of workers in the house. God forbid someone drop something in the tank or nick it up with tools inadvertently. Id rather be safe than sorry in terms of dealing with the tank cycle.

More than anything, I want to complete my fish room first. The sump is one aspect of it. I also have counters, cabinets, sinks, water changing stations, etc etc that all need to be ordered and installed.

Lots of stuff to do in the next 60 days but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.....

Wow! Things are coming along nicely at your home! That tank is going to look great! I love the location of it!! Keep the pictures coming!

Do you know how much the empty weight of the tank and stand are? It looks like those guys who moved it in really knew how to move heavy items with few people. What are those rigs they use in the last picture of post 423/2nd of 424?

Are you going to use a fast-cycling booster or let it naturally cycling?

Probably just let it cycle. Right now, there is a ton of stuff to take care of with the house so Im in no rush to start adding fish anytime soon. Im still waiting on the filtration to arrive so nothing can happen till then.

The crew that moved it in were absolute pros. Southwest Rigging. They are used to handling much larger and heavier items. This was a piece of cake for them. The stand is roughly 650 pounds and the tank is about 1800 pounds. With the water, rocks, tank, stand, everything should be over 10,000 pounds.

SocaltoAZ. Your house is amazing. My wife and I love that style of architecture and hope to have something similar one day, near the ocean though. :)

Fantastic build thread! Please keep the updates coming.

Thank you. Id love it if I could lift the whole thing and put it on the beach but Im stuck here in sandy Scottsdale. :) We spent many years living in Los Angeles and trust me, you couldn't pay me to go back. lol.

Love the clean wide open spaces here in AZ. The summers suck but you deal with it for a few months.

Ive had a bunch of people message me, wanting to see photos of other parts of the house. I was going to wait till the space is a bit more complete but I grabbed a few additional photos. Ill get some more at the end of the day and post pictures. Not much to see right now - we are in the final 45 days of construction hopefully to get all the loose ends wrapped up.

Here is our main hallway. We have my wine cellar at the end of the hallway. The entire hallway will be covered in wainscot- the arches will have columns with trim.

This is my movie theater. Black paneling. The walls will be black. The carpet will be black. But I have red seats on order. I plan on sitting in the seats and watching many a good movies here:

Another view of the theater

This is my wifes closet. Yes, its two stories. We were doing framing and had some empty space behind the closet. Decided to frame it up and add a second story. She loves her closet. The photo does not show the complete closet here. The moulding and trim work is already in place. Ill snap a photo of that later:

Awesome as usual. Regarding the closet, smart man. From now on your conversations will go like this, "Hey Honey, I was thinking about buying a really big..." Wife: "sure, buy whatever."
