120 aquascape

So I spent the good part of last 3 days redoing my aquascape several times for a 120 gallon RR. Man those built in overflows take up so much room. Anyways, I'm going for the minimalistic look with more swimming room and wanted kind of a tunnel or cavern look through the middle. The latest is getting close but I'm not completely satisfied with the look. I'm having trouble keeping the open concept but maintaining good spots to place corals, especially SPS which will need to be higher up. Attached are a couple photos, one being outisde of the tank. The end table you see in the background there is roughly the height of the tank (24").
Please offer comments and ideas to improve my aquascape.

Good looking rocks.

The only thing I would add would be a lower shelf on the left. You have what appears to be a shear wall, going straight down to the substrate at that area. Unless you are planning to glue corals to the side of the rock, I think you can build up a flat shelf midway up for medium light requiring stuff.

Either that, or build an overhang above, so you have a shaded area for non-photosynthetic or low-light livestock. Then you can light up the whole tank with powerful lights for SPS and other light hungry livestock.

Otherwise, looks good to me, with open areas for flow and hiding. I wouldn't take it down anymore, just add either of the above if you want.

thanks. I like the shelf idea. The left side was definitely missing something and it'll probably break up the wall looking affect too. Now to find a flat, long enough piece of rock!

Nice rocks for sure. Here is how I did mine. It allows for a lot of swimming room for ze fishes. Given I don't have the dual overflows. I had a custom box made for the center/top

Brandon - that is pretty much exactly what I was going for but those dual overflows just get in the way. they stick out like 6" from the back and are about 7" wide.

kb1916, Try and build the rock out from each of the overflows. That way you can kind of incorporate them and ultimately hide some of their unsightliness.

I went for a minimal amount of rock and more swimming space in my FOWLR.

Still might give you some ideas.

The rock on the left side IS resting against the back wall of the tank in 1 place (nearest the center overflow) but the rocks on the bottom (both left and right of center have ~4-6 in of swim space behind). My tank is 48x24x24 so the depth (front - back) helps. Also I have a center overflow that only intrudes about 4 in into the tank.

No corals yet however, I now have sufficient lighting and am going to start bringing up my Cal in prep for some corals.
