130 X 36 x 36 inbound...any suggestions?

You need to write a book on keeping rare angels. Rare fish for that matter. It's truly amazing what your able to do. You have much to teach me! What food have you been feeding?

thanks, lol, it is kind of in the making...I can't wait to talk about my food recommendations!

You need to call Brent and try his killer food, Chefzilla's Chowdown...very similar to Frenzy- fresh seafood, fish eggs, algae, vitamin c, probiotics, etc. handmade by a professional chef and hobbyist!

Best part is his flats are larger and less expensive than Frenzy...
10 oz of Chefzilla is $15.00...8 oz of Larry's Reef Frenzy is $23.00-26.00!

The food is cut a bit too fine, does have garlic, and is shipped without dry ice...
However, he is willing to make a larger chopped food without garlic and he will be using dry ice soon....

It is only been a few weeks at this point, way too early to really comment on how the fish are benefitting from it but, no signs of bloat!!

In addition, I am feeding spir brine, plankton, clams, and nori....

The dt still gets some Frenzy...

Between the two foods, we have the most beneficial frozen food diet probably ever offered in the hobby...

However, if I have my druthers, I am going with Chefzilla's Chowdown as I have seen zero signs of bloat...

I posted another review in Wayne's socal reefer thread..

more pics from Lemon....

50 day old trimac...

100 day old passer...

it is unreal what Wen and Bali have done in the past 18 months!
and then Karen's genius, what a remarkable time for the hobby!

What is next??

lol, he may have a pair of clown trigs that are doing the dance too!!
the fish are at the bottom of one of his tanks and it is difficult to see them interacting...

also from Wen...are cb Semis around the corner too???

baby trimac...

these two have been very prolific but no luck with the babies...
I think one of the broodstock has recently passed away...

captive spawned and raised...

P. annularis x P. imperator!!
and I think there may be an additional twist to this story!
I am drooling!!

I will have to give the food a try. Those are some awesome pictures! CB Semis!?! That would be awesome!

sadly both broodstock parents were lost..this is the only survivor, 8 years old..Lemon is writing up something about this story..

Ted,

The video of the adult GP, the fish are just slow cruising. Most of my angels are constantly on the hunt and scanning the aquascape looking for food. My Goldflake is an active swimmer, and my Bellus are always actively moving about. What is the behavior of your GP's. Are they slow cruising, hunting or active swimmers?

Dave B

Hey Dave,

I can't thank you enough for the Chefzilla's Chowndown connection...it is great food and Brent is a terrific guy...it is going to be fun watching his food explode...Anyone reading this, should def give it a try!

The Gp are really slow, mellow cruisers...they are always on the move but are really mellow...they do hunt and in one of the pics you can see a Gp in a cave, picking something off the underside of the top rock...
these fish are amazingly personable!

Thanks again, I really appreciate your assistance..

Ted

Did you ever get that tigerpyge? Also, apologies if you have previously discussed this but do you have any idea what GP you think will turn out to be the male?

Thanks for the pictures! Love the group shot.

no, I passed on them...I was real busy at the time and although they were beautiful fish, I will wait for the next round...

I am hoping it will be the largest Gp that goes male...he is considerably larger than the other two...there has been zero aggression since I removed 1 briefly last summer due to its aggression..
they were all roughly the same size when I got them but the size difference now is quite remarkable

I will try and get a new video up tomorrow!

I appreciate your interest!

Thanks,

Ted

Hey ! Is that the same Navarchus in the most recent photos you posted ? Still in transition? That Hybrid is gorgeous... as are the fat and happy GPs!

Gris,

That is the Navarchus I got over last summer..lol, had to pull her 4 times for lymph, I don't know what it is with baby Navarachus but they LOVE lymph!
She is transitioning much quicker than the one in the dt that is taking years!

Good to see you in here!

Ted

Hey! Sorry to hear about the Lymph. Even so, they look superb! As do all of your fish. It's the Conspic's that really look amazing, imo.
I haven't updated with any pictures of the Majestic Angel and Baby BlueFace, with which I was having problems, in quite some time.
The BlueFace began transitioning and grew bigger than the Majestic !
I added them to the 300DD recently.

Really enjoy you're post's. That Annularis x Emp Hybrid is Insane! It's the perfect blend of pattern and color between the two.
All of the big Broodstock photos are great as well. I recently saw that another outlet is offering captive-bred Clown Triggers already. Amazing what's going on in the hobby/industry.

hey bud, thanks...this navarchus went thru it much easier and it was not as severe an issue, so this one doesn't hate me as much as the other one...the one in the dt is just about full adult now...
Post pics when you can, would love to see them!
took a long video earlier..uploading to youtube now...lol, going to take 5 hours...

Yes, cb clown trigs! I will post the pics! wen is also just about there with the cb clown trigs!

cb clown triggers..

Quality Marine receives Biota Marine’s Cultured Balistoides conspicillum

This is the first batch of Commercially Raised Clown Triggerfish available for sale in North America. These have been hatched in captivity and raised by Biota Marine Life Nursery in Palau. Quality Marine is the exclusive vendor for these fish in North America.

Captive Care

We are holding these fish individually, as Clown Triggerfish are known for aggressive behavior, especially as they get older. These fish were cultured and held together for quite a large portion of their lives and as a result may not be as aggressive as their wild counterparts. That being said, our interest lies in ensuring the best health of our stock as well as the quality of the specimen when delivered to our customer and so we intend not to “test” their temperaments.

We are feeding them Gamma mysis, enriched brine, krill, chopped prawn and other marine-based diced meaty foods. They also get some more protein-dense foods like pellets and gel, which they have taken greedily. Like most Triggers, they have seemingly bottomless stomachs, and do best on multiple feedings per day.

For More Information

For more information on this culture breakthrough, the fish it produced, and the company involved, be sure to check out Coral Magazine for a full length write up on the topic.

btw, isn't refreshing seeing these experts honestly comment about the aggressiveness of clown triggers, especially when larger?
