Progress

It's been a while but finally got the stand finished and powder coated and put the tank on the stand tonight. Stand looks so tall to me since the tank is only 20" tall but I think it looks great.
Now I have to order some bulkheads I thought the tank came with but it didn't so plumbing will have to wait. Placing my order tomorrow.

Mike the stand is probably overkill and it is heavy takes two people to move it.
I just order my bulkheads and a few other parts so hopefully this weekend I can start plumbing the tank.

I’m getting close to doing a leak test on my tank. I decided to order a new return pump since I lost some parts to my old one which is only about a year old but now I will have a backup return pump.
I plumed the closed loop 4 way OM with a Reeflo Dart pump.
I have the drain plumbed to the sump.
I'm supposed to get my new pump on Friday so I should have the return plumbed by Saturday.
I will post some pictures once all the plumbing is done.

Making progress. The tank is completely plumbed. Tomorrow I will be doing a leak test and working on the aquascape.

the bottom drilled suppies

Does that have a check valve? so let's say the power goes out for 30 mins one day, then it could overflow your sump right? I guess you have the check valve? If you could explain that then it would clear my doubts. BTW awesome build. Is it a glass tank or acrylic?

plumbing looks good

plumbing looks good

If I have to do this complex plumbing then it would look god awful ugly, but yours look clean.

pump

pump

that pump looks huge. I have heard of reeflo dart but never had any experience with it. I have never even seen that in person. how does it work, does it have any special features? I used to have a sequence pump but gave up on that because of noise and then got that jebao DC and it is the god given gift for me. Just very silent and love it. But ppl have reported high failure rate on DC pumps, we will see. So Any special reason for selecting Reeflo? how may watts is that pump?

confused

confused

hmmmmm now I see one pump inside the sump and I see one outside the sump. Confused now. I think I kind of understand what you are trying to do, So one is just a closed one for the flow and the other one is the one that forces the overflow and drains it to sump and pumps back to tank. kind of makes sense.

closed loop system

closed loop system

so by doing this you don't need that ugly wavemaker sticking inside, is that the reason? makes sense.

thanks scuzy

thanks scuzy

got you, I heard if closed loop several times but this is the first time I seen it. (pump plumbing wise)

Well started to fill the tank this morning and the threaded elbows for the closed loop are leaking.
Have to take them apart and put more Teflon tape on the threads.

maddhugan the tank is three sided starfire glass with grey pvc bottom and acrylic euro braced top.
All sides are 3/4 inch thick.
I don't have a check valve I should probably put on in. I usually keep my returns up high so I wanted to see how high the sump got when I cut the power to it that will determine if I need a check valve.
The reason for the dart pump is preference I have used them in the past and they are reliable and can be repaired.
Thanks guys for the comments also always open to hear your suggestions.

Well good new bad news got all the leaks all taken care of and filled the tank to make sure it holds water since it hasn't had water in it in more that two years.
Sense it's tap water I will be watering my plants and grass once I feel that all is good.
The bad news my sequence Dart pump has bad bearings. I bought last year on RC but never got to test it since I couldn't connect it to anything.
Here is a quick video hopefully it show up this is the first time I have ever posted a video.

One more good thing I cut power to the return pump and the sump does not overflow so check valve not needed.
