Man I hope you have a drain for your skimmate bucket because I would worry moving that thing from the ground to a drain to pour it in... not to mention that must have a lovely smell to it!

Hint: I've heard tossing kalkwasser in a skimmer cup knocks the smell down (pH/bacteria thing??) although I don't know how well that would apply to a 5g bucket o' fish crap

BTW, did you buy mangroves that big? if you grew them out whats your secret? i have had very little luck growing them out.thanks!

I bought them as pods, no leaves or branches. I wish I had a secret to tell you though. I really don't do anything with them. Possibly the natural sunlight but they grew for the first year under cfl's. I think they do grow faster when you spray the leaves with freshwater but I hardly do that anymore.
