Hello folks,

I have started to rebuild my 180 gal tank in my new home. I am going to post some photos of the new tank room as it is built. If anyone has any suggestions to offer during the process please feel free to do so. The project is in the beginning stages so enjoy..

Here is the temporary setup in the basement.

Here is the room after I removed a stand up shower and opened up the floor to accomodate a floor and a new drain for water changes.

Very cool Mike. Are you going to plumb the tank to an upper level or set it up in the basement? Also, do you foresee any humidity problems not that the fishroom is in the house?

Gotta love the Bud bottle in picture #4. You know hard work is going on when beer in involved.

There was a lot of hard working going on for sure. The sad part it was on my honey do list. :)

Looking good...how big is the fish room gonna be?

Hey John,

The room is going to be about 11x14. I hope it is going to be large enough :)

The tank is going to be on the upper level. I cut a hole in the wall to bring the plumbing down through. My cats were exploring the nice 8ft. drop. I had to cover the hole so they didn't try out there safe fall skills. Humidity is a big concern to me. I have two vents that are already in place to blow in the room. Without the AC on there is definitly a humidity problem. I plan to hook up a dehumidifier that will drain into the floor.

How are your corals holding out in the 100 gal. tubs. they are some beauties......yell if ya need a hand with anything...Looking good...Jeff

How about a before the move full tank shot. Mikes tank is an awesome very mature mostly sps reef.

If you need help with framing or anything LMK Mike.

Everything is doing well so far. I think the fact that we brought all the water over is the key factor. I may be hanging drywall this weekend. Are you going to be free? :)

looks like some really nice and very oversized equipment for a 180g... is that a deltec ap1003? intense

Thanks!!

Yes, the equipment is oversized. The skimmer is a Euroreef RC1000. I had intentions of a 420 gal. tank to replace my 180 in January. After a lot of thinking the 420 is going to be to large for my living room. I feel a 270 like what joe is setting up will be more fitting to the room and my pocket book.

I need to get a hold of Nick and some of the pictures he shot about 4 months ago with his girlfriends SLR camera. I have a link to the tank on the little red house. That was probably from over a year ago though.

I am about to start the third wall tomorrow. I think things are going to get tricky now because I am going to be working between the hvac return duct and the center beam for the house. Fun, fun, fun.. if you are bored and want to come out tomorrow evening. I will be at it again. Feel free to give me a call.

Here is an update on where the work stands. I completed the 4th wall today. I am going to start the electrical very soon. I have a few more details that I need to work out before I start pulling wire for the new outlets.

Enjoy!

Thanks for compliments bro.

We had plenty for the tank move. I think any more people would have been a few to many.

The new room should offer a lot more expansion oppourtunities for a larger frag system. I should be expanding my 40G frag to a 100G very soon.

Any chance you could link a good FTS when you get back?
