I'm not an expert with BK but external skimmer always have better performance than internal. Since you can feed the over flow directly to the skimmer.

well other brand external can put in the sump. Both of my H&S skimmer are external but I put both inside my sump

Hey T I had a bubbleking for a few years until recently. I do not rccomend that you get a 300 for a 180g. WAY TOO BIG. I had a 250 on a 180 and it was big for it those things are beasts

Tanya, what do you mean by too big? Not pulling any skimmate into the cup?

Steve (Jar*Head) PM'ed me - he had a friend who ran a 300 on a 125g. Edward (Invincible569) ran a BK400 on his 100g.

Please tell me more about your experiences. Did you feed heavy/light?

What skimmer are you running now? Why'd you get rid of the BK? Any pump issues on your BK?
