Wow I must have missed this thread. Your setup and home are sweet..

Thanks, Eric. I'm following your build, too. Can't wait for more updates! ;) I wish it'd come along a little quicker though... hint hint! ;) Welcome to my thread. Excuse us cooky reefers :D

your missing one key part of being business owner, ice cream man.
flowers, food then desert. do i have to do all the thinking for you :D

Another business for Anthony? Bart, you tryin to make that guy go to work in the mornings?

you just missed it, the sexy shrimp would swim from one end to the other grabbing the piece of flake and hopefully not get caught in the act.

Thanks, Doog :)

Bart - We learned from Steve that Anthony is a stud with his 70 yr old employees! You better pipe down or he won't send you the frag meant for Steve! :D

Before I have my son I have 2 18 years old asian girl employee and the only English words they can say is " Me love you longtime" hahaha

Is that how you ended up having your boy? And are these 18yr olds the same 70 yr olds we're talking about now? LOL :spin1:

too busy talking to you crazies to do anything with my tank! :D

But seriously, nothing new. Planning on picking up some fish and frags from local reefers this weekend.

Hanna PO4 measurements

Hanna PO4 measurements

OK, took some readings, and have some questions. First the readings:

Tank - 0.02 (good)
Effluent from my Phosban reactor - 0.02 (not good?)

Questions:

1) Do I need to change my media (Rowaphos), since my effluent is not reading at -zero-? Or am I OK to keep using the Rowaphos since my tank is still reading 0.02?

2) the Photometer comes with 2 cuvets. I only need to use one of them to take a reading, right? I assume the 2nd cuvet is just a spare one?

If your tank is .02, your phosphates are fine. I used to be around .04-.05 with rowa. I switched to phosar and I am now at .02-.03.

How long have you been using that batch of media?

I wouldn't change a thing. From what I understand, 0 phosphates on a high-sensitivity test is not necessarily good, it's almost 'too sterile.' Now you would want to read 0 on a less sensitive test, like with Salifert and others, but using the Hanna meter and high sensitivity kits like Merck or Deltec, you actually don't want to read 0, as corals like a little 'dirtier' environment.

Mark and Dudester - thanks for the info! I'll keep my media in there for now. I'm surprised it's lasted so long. I've been running since mid September! I do, however, run (2) Phosbans, both with Rowa. And up until the past few weeks, had been feeding relatively lightly. I'm trying to get my coral to color up a bit.

I run my tanks with a phosphate level between .015 and .03 ideally so as everyone else has said, don't change the Rowa. You probably stripped the tank of all phosphate there for awhile and your colors should gradually come back.
