zeovit and fauna marin and elos purist all do the same thing the zeolite rocks are home to denitrifying bacteria and also are involved in some sort of Ion exchange with ammonia they absorb the ammonia. each system has a bacteria source that is dosed along with a bacteria food Bacteria foods are carbon sources like vodka and they feed the bacteria and bind organics allowing them to be exported by the skimmer.
also with zeo you create bacterial slime on the rocks that is shaken off daily into the water column to feed the corals and help the skimmer remove the organics
AA acids really have nothing to do with zeo except that with low nutrient systems there is a need to control the amount of nitrate in the water the AA also feed bacteria which in turn feed corals.

How much Elos AA's do you dose Mark? I didn't know you used them. Are you using them now on your 180g?

AA users - how long do you have to dose it before you start seeing noticeable effects?

I always though it was the waste that kept them going not what the waste turns into. Clearly i have some rethinking to doOriginally posted by Marko9
I love it when I hear people who know what they are talking about. I have mine between 10-20 and my colors are decent

KZ also has an AA formulation for LPS that I have used. No joke, shortly after the solution hit the water, my LPS polyps extended like crazy. It was as if I had just fed the tank with food. I backed off and haven't used it in a while because I had a small algae bloom and didn't know which ZEO product caused it, so I'm now adding each product slowly and individually, and eventually I'm sure I'll go back to using the AA-LPS, as I was very impressed with it.Originally posted by Jar*Head
AA only work and work well with SPS coral.

AA only work and work well with SPS coral. If your tank is full of softies and fish, don't waste your money![]()

That is a pretty bold statement. I have over 20 chalices and 30 different variations of zos/palys and I have seen difference when I was dosing. I am probably the exception to the rule![]()

I always dose the supplement during the light off period. That is when your corals reach out for food and the longest PE. I also notice the algae bloom if you OD on AA.
