2 part question: ID & ???

I was given this frag and I'm not sure what it is, but more alarmingly I have no idea what is growing in the middle of it. Whatever it is, it's formed a short and wide worm like tube and from there it releases 10ish spiderweb like strings, collects particulate matter and reels it in. It wiggles around like a snail but stays in its "cave". Anyone seen this before?
