Perry, that is a good and fair question and I will talk it over with Mike and Pete and get back to you. BAR doesn't have a family membership? ( Just curious.... not meant to start any negativity :))

I didn't register for family membership, cause they're (wifey and kid) not really into it. But I'm starting to train them to like it.

In your initial post, first page in this thread, you mentioned "Spouses are welcome with their own paid admission and are welcomed to participate in the swap (or pick for you) as long as they meet the requirements (bring 3 frags)". That, made me think that I can bring them along and that they can participate in the frag swap too.

pbetito does sunset monti and flower pedals considered rare ? if I bring two rares and 10 other frags will I be qualify for the first and second bonus ?

The sunset counts for sure. I would like to see the pic of the flower pedals. It is however 2 rares or 10 frags per bonus ticket :)

We are looking into family memberships/spouses and girl friends. We will have an answer soon though.
 
Paul and I had a quick conversation. Even though some clubs may not have a "family" membership, MARS does/has historically. Your club membership (to any club) will be adequate for you and your spouse/children. We require the entrance/food fee for all people participating in the swap, but will not require a second membership for your direct family (spouse and/or children).

Situational Examples:

You Only
$9 prepay/$12 at the door

You and your "young" children (i.e. 1 person in the swap)
$9 prepay/$12 at the door

You and your spouse (2 entrants in the swap)
$18 prepay/$24 at the door

You and your older child with his/her own tank (2 entrants in the swap)
$18 prepay/$24 at the door

You, your spouse and older child with his/her own tank (3 entrants in the swap) and your younger children
$27 prepay/$36 at the door

All of this with one membership. If you're bringing a date or a cousin or a best friend and they want to participate, please arrange for them to get a membership to your local club, or a MARS membership.

Above all, please support your local club.
 
Well said Pete. Also if your child is 16 years or older and has a tank they are old enough to join us in the club. Basically if they are old enough to swap they are old enough for membership. Therefore they need to be a member as well. Spouses are o.k. however, on the same club membership as their wife/husband. Just keep in mind they need their own frags and must pick for themselves. If you bring someone who is basically only there so one can pick twice it is in poor taste, and will be frowned upon as greed. We want couples to enjoy the hobby together and support one another on crazy spending sprees :) Just please don't be following your spouse around and coaching him/her on their selections. The idea is that spouses can pick the things THEY like.
 
I'm going to do that, but i am also going to be around because I dont want my wife to pick an SPS frag that definitely won't make it into my tank. Other than than that though, it all on her. Hopefully this will make her want to get an even bigger tank in the coming years!

Note that only the person picking is allowed in the frag area during each round. You might want to help her before the swap in coral i.d. though. That way she will know what to stay away from and what you guys are looking to add. The picking area is going to be sectioned off h and only the persons in that group will be allowed in. Groups are chosen at random.

My wife opened up at her first swap by picking some "super pretty" GSP. I was like I brought in 5 frags of AOG to gain these amazing GSP.... YAY ME!!!! Either way though she liked them and that is just how it goes.
 
Just want to confirm something here. So, to get a bonus pick I need to bring "6rare and 30 normal" frags? Or is that "6rare or 30normal" frags to get a bonus pick?

No, If you bring rares you don't have to bring anything else. If you don't have rares then you can bring 30 frags instead to qualify for the bonus. Just note that only 10 of them can be softies :)
 
But we would LOVE for people to bring in all kinds of stuff if they have extra to spare. I know I will be lacing the table with all kinds of goodies, much more than I plan to come home with. It just makes everyone's time just that much sweeter when they walk away with a ton of stuff.

There was a time when I was barely able to bring in 3 frags (yes one was xenia), yet went home with 10 frags+! Now I am just happy I am in a position to return the favor.

No problem. I'll be bringing about 20 to 30 more regular frags aside from the other rares that I will be bringing in.

By the way, is Tyree insignis acro in?
