2012 Hobbyist of the Year Award!

While planning the sprig meet we came up with an idea to start an annual award. This is an achievement award given to a club member for their contributions to the hobby and the upstate reef society.

We decided to give our first one to Tom (tmz). His efforts are noticed and appreciated. Hands down one of the most knowledgable hobbyists around. Who devotes his personal time to helping others. With answers to some of the most basic as well as complex chemistry related questions, it always amazes me how in depth his posts are. Tom often answers same questions without getting annoyed or bothered.

Tom, you are a great hobbyist and teacher. I know many here will agree with my opinion. Thank you for all the work you have done and will continue to do.

That's awesome! Great job Tom, as always. Cool trophy and idea G. Sorry I didn't make it out, really wanted to.

Tom, are there any conflicts with your duties as The 2012 Grumpy Old Fart award you concominamtly hold? I'd hate to see you have to pick one sash over the other :fun4:
 
The award does hold water and can be used as a nano reef.

While tossing ideas and names around, Tom's name was unanimous. We didn't have a procedure or voting process. So I guess hands down, Tom was hand picked after all. :)

In the future, while moving towards having a club, we could have a committee. A handful of folks doing the choosing. This was my etempt at starting something new.

Are you thinking about starting another club?
 
Tom I think you are going to have to build a bigger trophy wall ,because I think you will be winning this more than once
 
I recall having read that the basis of the RC forums is contingent on a formal "club". I'm not sure what the definition would be for that, but there is some level of contrroversy regarding Upstate not actually having a chartered organization. Perhaps this is the start of making URS legit.
Maybe monthly meetings, a real organization huh?

sounds good but we should make a separate thread about that as this thread should be all about tom sorry to side track

Now at the first meeting we can all bring him a frag to stock it and say thanks and congrats!!!
