I took Friday off of work. I got all the way to my hunting property (parents house) about 45 minutes away. I get out of the truck and remember that I forgot something important at home. I forgot my broadheads! Ugghhh. Day was a total bust. I went inside, slept for 2 hours on the couch and then drove home and spent the day with the family. Not a total bust of a day, but kind of.
I went out again today. Got busted by a doe when I drew back this morning. Saw about 5 more deer after that, but they were all too far away.
Tonight, I had a nice doe about 15 yards away, and totally dead to rights. She caught me off guard and I didn't have a chance to stand up in my stand. I had to be super slow drawing my bow back, and I couldn't get it over the hump of the draw. She snorted and ran off. I got down off the stand once I couldn't see anymore and started walking back through the field back to the house. I played peek-a-boo with some deer in the field by hiding behind a utility pole but couldn't get a shot off.
Overall, I had a great day in the woods. Saw bunches of deer, almost drew back twice, and got a couple good loads of firewood. Productive day!
