210g Things with Stings tank.

When I was moving around my 220, 72x30x24 with 3/4 glass, it would take a minimum of four of us, I'm 24 and a mechanic so lifting heavy things is not unusual for me, but let me tell you this thing was scary!! It was much safer when there was five or six of us for sure. Good luck, if I wasn't on the other side of the country I would help.

Are you going to put the inimicus in there? I'm still trying to decide if mine is going in or going to stay in his own tank.

So you're saying a 5'1" girl may have a little trouble lifting this with one other person? :-)

So far it's me, our skinny xbox playing 18 year old and hubby.... I better recruit some help.

I'm not sure about the Inimicus yet. I'm going to give him more time to make sure he's done growing and size up his mouth some more.

You better get gregs whole band, all of skinny xbox kid's friends, and bribe the hulk into helping and you might be able to do it ;-). Seriously though it is going to take some pretty strong dudes to move it. I overflowed mine two separate times while setting it up and getting the plumbing right, and since it is over carpet I had two take it back down both times. I had to bribe my friends with all sorts of stuff to get everyone to come over at one time to move it ten feet off the stand, which took about fifteen seconds, but that was the only way to get it done =\

I know mine will be fine size wise, it's only larger scorps that are going in this tank, but he's such a spaz I'm still scared of him jumping out or hurting himself

LOL.... I ended up going up to Home Depot and "renting" a few dudes for a half hour when I had to take down my last tank.

You have an awesome setup! I can wait to see more. The fish you have look really nice too! maybe its just the professional pics. I love the blotched anthias!!! where did you get them?

The tank won't be ready from the manufacturer until the 22nd. I still don't have the stand stained because quite frankly, I'm nervous about messing it up. I'm debating whether I should get a professional in.

And we have yet to put a whole in the side of the house for the outdoor sump.... hubby is nervous about that one.

We got the anthias a couple of years ago from the wholesalers.

do what my dad would do, stain it yourself cuase your a 'profesional' and when its screwed up cover it in more wood and stain it again. and for the whole in the house, take a saw, cut the hole(s), and when you screw that up, cover it in wood and make a new hole :P just trying to help with the stress haha

Very interesting build.
Could you give some details about your tank & outdoor sump design and who is building the tank?

Heh...I'm nervous about the entire build! Never plumbed a penninsula-style setup before, never done an outside plumbing job before, hoping the 'scaping comes out OK...the list goes on.

I DID, however, get the schematic for the holes to our tankbuilder (John @ Advance Acrylics, who has done work for us a few times) today, and he said it was totally intelligible, so score one for us!

Here it is:

very nice but why doesnt the drain part (dotted box on top view) be twisted 90 degrees so its on the end of the tank where the wall is? i think it might look better IMO

I'm not sure i get what you are saying. The plumbing is Greg's project so he can probably answer that better.

I built the stand and ordered the tank, he's doing the plumbing and aquascaping, I'm picking out the lights.... I'm lucky to have a hubby that enjoys it as much as I do.

The end of the tank and the O/F box will be black. There's no good way to do the entire O/F in black if you go "front-to-back", and we didn't want to be able to see the plumbing in the O/F (we've always gone to great pains to have our plumbing hidden). Also, we didn't need a 2' wide O/F, so basically, what we have is a modified corner O/F.

This configuration also gives us a bit more room in the DT.

aaaahh smart.... i noticed that it gave a lil more room the way you had it but i thought it would look cleaner if you put it on the end instead of the side. your tank tho. so then from what i understand you are going to paint the back part of the overflow so you cant see the plumbing or is that part going to be unseeable becuase the way its positioned or something like that?

Maybe this will help.

On the Living room side you can only see 66.5 inches of the tank, on the kitchen side you can see the whole 84.5".
