230 Ohio reef tank

Great looking tank! I was just in beavercreek, my job opened a new place up there. Next time I'm down ill PM you and maybe try to stop by n see it in person if possible

Corey

Thank Corey/NanoOhio. Fellow reefers always welcome to swing by and visit.

Well, Today I was messing with the photo thing again. This time I tried to shut the pumps down to take pictures. Unfortunately, still dosent do the colors justice. Will have to hire a pro photographer someday.

This tank is surely worthy of a pro photographer documenting. Maybe they could give you some pointers while they are there. What is the red coral in the last pic and are you giving it any special care?

looks like a red gonipora if I'm not mistaken.

The red coral in the bottom of the picture is an Ora Red Gonipora. No special care, just my usual maintenance and proper placement of it. Seems to do well with good moderate flow and to be in the mid lower part of the tank.

That came from Coral Cove did it not?, If so it was awesome when they had it.

Yep, got it from Coral Cove, Joel special ordered it for me. I just remember seeing one of them in a display tank in Tampa and then read an article about how hardy they were. Had to get one after that.

tjsailosullivan, Awesome tank!

I remember seeing this thread back when you started it, and have just rediscovered it. It appears that we worked at the same place before you retired. Great to see someone locally with such an amazing build.

have you been to reef systems coral farm in new albany ohio? if not i highly recommend it, I've been in a lot of reef specialty shops but this one literally blew me away and there 900 g show tank is unbelievable went yesterday and am already planning a return trip!

Sorry been a few days since I had a chance to check my tread. Been traveling quite a bit with the new job. Headed off to Stuttgart Germany in a week and cant wait to see how they are doing business out there. Will also be adding new LED lights in a few weeks and cant wait. Will show the next update when I get them installed.

Thanks Wayne, Jaguarmonk. Always appreciate the feedback.

Nano - I agree, Reef Systems is a pretty cool place. Unfortunately its such a long drive for me. Hope to make it out there again sometime soon.

Anyways, its been a while since I put out an updated video and thought I would share. This time wanted to show the right side of tank behind the wall. I do have to admit there are times I miss having the sides of my tank in public view.

Can't wait, 2 more weeks and will be upgrading my lighting. Talked with Ecotech last week and will be getting rid of my MH fixture and adding 2 G3 Radion Pro's. I was really torn between the Hydra 52's or the Pro's. The fact that I only need 2 Pro's as opposed to 3 hydra's was one of the big factors in my final decision. Also I really liked Schwings beautiful 500l (130 gal)tank lit by the Radion Pro's. (Can see his tank on YouTube) It looks like he has had some really nice results with them.

Thanks EDAT6.

You will love the pros, I have two on my tank. Just keep in mind they are really powerful. I have never had my lights above 50% on 12k and not above 80% on 20k modes. I currently am beta testing Fusion to control the radions and my vortechs and I love it.
