230 Ohio reef tank

Ok, I was only able to hold out for week and they just came in last night. I put them up about 10-11 inches above the water and started them at about 45% acclimation under the preprogramed mode for coloration. Love the low profile and they colors look great and I'm impressed with the software, however I am a little concerned about some potential shadowing i see in my Green Balli that wasnt an issue with the cobination of my halides and the BMLED fixture. Will still consider using my BMLED and reefbrite fixture to suppliment in the front of the back of the tank for potential shadowing. I was wondering if the 120 Degree optics would help reduce the shadowing?

The lights are up and running. Had to build a frame to mount the led strips on the outside. The combination of the BMLEd/reefbrite Xho and the Radion G3 Pro is amazing!

First of all I'd like to say Thank you for your service!!! I may have spoken to you on the air waves a time or two. 27 years as an ATC and three to go to retirement. I can't wait to get back to Ohio and get my basement and start my Man Cave. Love your set-up and will be following along for any further updates.

Thanks All, so now I have to share some new photo's with the lights up and running. Borrowed a friends camera. Takes much better photos than the iPhone.

Well, I had the unfortunate experience of using my wet and dry vac last night due to several poweroutages. Fortunately no damage to the reef. Unfortunately my back up system was not operating and my sump is to small to handle the volume. On the up side, my wife has approved a sump upgrade so I am now looking at one simlar to this from Elite Aquatics.

Had to share this one. My new midlife crisis. When I was in Germany last week, I asked my wife if she would mind if I get one of these ($319K 12C Mclaren Spider) She said, one condition, you would have to sell the aquarium first. I responded, "Not gonna happen!!!" LoL

another small upgrade. Wish I would of gotten on of these along time ago. Got it hooked up and works beautifully. Unfortunately my previous float switch only lasted a year. Moisture got into the junction box and it stopped working. Don't have to worry about that anymore with this one.

figured I would share this one for the record. My tank has now been skimmerless for over a week now. Unfortunately, my impeller in my bubblemaster pump for the skimmer had seen the end of its life. I ordered a new one from Coralvue and they informed me they didnt have the impeller in stock and have to get it from Europe and it won't come in until sometime next week sometime. I was a little freaked out at first that I wouldn't have a skimmer running. Oddly enough, it's seems like my corals looks like they are actually growing faster and coloring up better with out it? Not sure if it's the results of the new lights or what? I'm wondering if my skimmer is taking to much out of the water?

Tank is coming along nicely. I still need to check it out in person. Hopefully you are prepared for the incoming weather in case we lose power. I wouldnt worry about being skimmerless too much.

From a fellow ohio reefer... Just got the g3 as well.... What mode are you running? Radiant color? What brightness?

Right now I am running Schwings template at 50%. You can download it at.

My lights are also about 10" above the surface.

However, I started at 45% and have been supplementing with the actinic BMLED and a actinic reefbrite strip from 12-7. I also increased them about 2-2 1/2% a week.
