2300G Cylinder - Preview

Diablo,
any noise issues with your overflow? It looks to be a bit of a drop and a large volume of water is coming over the overflow. I'm sure the down-pipes are silient as they look to be herbie style, but the overflow noise itself is something Im wondering about?

Rockwork started. This is the framework for the reef flat section... it looks smaller than it is. The top platform is 6' x 4'.

There will be two other structures... a patch reef to the right of the picture and a full height bommie to the left.

What is the final verdict on the Orphek? I am giving strong consideration to these and would love to hear some feedback on them.

Its hard to give a final verdict without seeing how they actually grow corals... what I can say is that the color is really nice and that 4 of them together give a PAR of 380 - 400 at 4' so should provide enough grunt to replace a 1000W MH. Do I honestly believe that one DIF-100 can replace a 400W lamp? No... not really. Would be too dim for my taste... but one per 250W MH should work quite nicely.

Are you planning on using some foam, or cement to fill and blend your rock into the table structure?

Just out of curiosity, do you know how much rock that is?

Diablo, have you measured the lamp's PAR at 48" in your own tank, or are you going by the manufacturer's description? I would think the issue with these would be the area one could cover. I am very interested in these pendents, but would like to get a better idea as to how many of them would be required to give good coverage over a tank.

Thx,

Thanks,

Yeah it's either these or the Radions, but from the folks I've talked to these have better coverage while the Radions have more flexibility.

In either case the life of the fixture mixed with the electrical savings they're a great option.

Holy Crap! Just found this thread and read every page... Your home is amazing as is the tank of course. Astounding project...

It has taken me 3 days, off and on, to get through this thread. As an engineer and a reefer I am not sure what I enjoyed seeing and reading about more - the house or the tank.

Stunning on both accounts.

Tagging along and thanks for sharing!

Agreed :) Any updates?

Amazing! Nothing else I can say that has not already been said, over and over. Tagging along for the rest of this amazing adventure.
