Thanks, so what does that control box plug into?

so all your equipment plugs into that and then the control box plugs into what?

also how many watts or amps are these raetd for?

thanks!

Nick
The control box plugs into the wall just like any other multi outlet strip.
Not all of my equipment is plugged into this box. My pendants, closed loop pumps, and oceansmotions are plugged into their own dedicated outlets and digital wall timers. You can see these in some past posts.
My return pump, heater, skimmer pumps, PH monitor, and calcium reactor pump and solenoid will be plugged into this 8 way box.
This particular 8 way box is rated at 15 amps.

You mentioned microbubbles before. Maybe I can help you resolve that problem. Can you explain how your sump is plumbed, including the flow rate and how your return pump is set up? Pictures help.
The micro bubbles were comming from the Nautilus skimmer. I had too powerful a pump driving it which resulted the excess bubbles.
Now that I've got the new skimmer running, no more micro bubbles.

Sean its looking good, Scott was right about that skimmer, its big and looks like it rocks. I'm having him make me one too!

Are you running without a fuge? Unless your "left" side is your fuge and return.

That skimmer is huge, made my little DIY look pretty small :P

Looking good!

Sean, I've told Scott to start building me the skimmer like yours (8"od dual recirc) so in 2-3 weeks I should have it! Exciting, it should skim the crap out of a 107 gallon system! Scott's calcium reactor seems to be doing an amazing job also! The sump I got from him is perfect for what I'm doing!

So when we having a frag swap/party/drinking beer at your place? :)

a cube by any other name..

a cube by any other name..

Now, that's a lovely tank.

But what's with the "cube". A cube would be 4x4x4 (or one like the 2x2x2s that Scott is reportedly building for himself).

Mate, you've only got half! :p

Actually I got the cube Scott built for himself :) I would bet anything he is going to build a big 250-300 gallon for his house sooner or later when he has a few free moments.

Beautiful tank. The hand made stand really shows the whole thing off. I'd love to get some more details on the stand construction if you ever manage to get caught up with all of these information requests!

Ask and ye shall receive. Here's a link to my stand build thread. Thanks for the compliments. I really enjoyed the construction of this stand and it actually turned out as nice as I'd hoped it would.

I found the control box on ebay for $12.50 plus $5 shipping. Not bad.

I have been trying to find these control boxes could you tell me the
name of the seller you purchased it from?

Thanks
Chuck

Man your woodworking just amazes me. I need to get in the garage and do some learning :)

I really lub your skimmer, Scott said 2-3 weeks and I'll have mine.

Just reading his/hers username you can tell he/she's up to no good. Thank you skipper.

By the way sonofgaladriel I'm always a silent reader subscribed to many threads, but your tank and stand and simply breathtaking. Keep up the great work and thanks for sharing.

Alfonso

I was going to post this on your stand thread,

but how did you finish the stand? did you use sealer, polyurethene? a combo of the 2?

anyway keep the pics coming! great work!

I brushed on the stain heavily. A few minutes later I wiped off the excess with a clean cloth. I then sprayed the sealer on the inside and outside. Once the sealer dried, I puttied the nail holes and sanded it down smooth again (the sealer raises the grain of the wood a little bit and a light sanding is needed). Wiped off the dust from the sanding and then sprayed 3 coats of satin finish laquer.
Walla!

if you really want clear water, hook up some Ozone to that skimmer

I would love to hook up ozone to the skimmer, but whew, the smell from that is awful. My wife would kill me if the tank smelled like that.
I'll be using some carbon, phosphate pads, and maybe some diatomacious stuff.
