240 Gallon Cube Tank Photo Diary

Since this thread made 'thread of the month' it has turned into another 'wow, looks great!' x 100 posts thread. I think it looks great too, but one of the things that makes this thread great is the fast that it is a PHOTO DIARY, not a sign in book. Ill be sending my compliments via PM to keep this thread from being hijacked into a visitors log. Show us more pice man, looks great!

I'm not sure just what other pics I need to post here. The 'photo diary' aspect was really just to document the fabrication of the tank and stand and then the following set up. It was never meant to be an ongoing picture extravaganza. I was actually thinking I was done many pages ago. All of the continuing questions and comments have kept this thread moving along.
There are only so many pics of the tank that I can post before they all start to look the same. When I add new equipment or when I change the rockscape, I'll post some new pics then, but I don't want to just flood RC with useless pics. I hope you understand.
nbd13- I use MinWax stain which is brushed on. I use IOWA sealer and laquer which I use a paint sprayer to apply.
You can rent the sprayers at just about any equipment rental store.

I have to admit that I took your idea of using a spice rack to hold the fish food on the inside of the cabinet. Went looking around for a hour or so tonight trying to find one.

That skimmer is incredible. How is it working out for you?

Those soon-to-be baby blue zoos are starting to get some color to them and the rest of the corals I've gotten from you are doing great. The Kenya Tree finally attached itself also.

Your setup is truly amazing. I'm in awe every time I get to see it because you always notice something different in it. Keep up the good work.

Skimmer is working great. I'm adding some new filter pads tomorrow and will hook up the CA reactor.
Here's some new pics of the rockscape. I raised the front of the reef to help increase the depth affect. Its hard to tell in these pics but it looks nice. Can't wait til these frags start growing in.
The camera just can't seem to catch the true depth, all the overhangs and caves, or the true colors of the frags. I need to take some photo lessons.

alphaOr- Thank you for that link! I'll try to put that to use in the next set of pics.
Coralover- I have a faux sand bed. It is a sand bed, but its actually encased in resin so that its solid. This acts like a BB but gives me the look of a think layer of sand.
elephen- We can have a frag swap when I have something other than this pink cap frag to trade ;) It may be awhile though. Most everything in here is a frag itself.

Thats how all my SPS are, although my digi is growing like crazy, had it for a week and it is already sprouting 12 branches. Hopefully when my new 3 400w DE pendants come in they'll help the growth of it. I think 3 400w DE 20k radiums w/sunlight supply magnetic ballast and 2 250w SE 14k halides should be enough for a 95.

by the way, what are the dimenions on that tank. sorry if its already been asked or youve said already. i only skim read it. needto read the whole thread proplerly

Hey i noticed that your cleaner shirmp hang out by that intake to the intake for the closed loop....

what size pumps are you running on that closed loop? they dont get pulled in at all?

thanks!

Nick

nbd13: The strainers due to their large surface area have don't have a lot of pull per square inch. Since they aren't sucking that hard, the shrimp don't ever get stuck to them. It was somewhere else in the thread, I think he explained it better.

WoW :eek1:

Looking very very nice! Can't wait until you get some diatom filtration media going! That water is going to be so clear you probably wont be able to tell there's water in there! Serious!

Nice job Sean!

Check out some of the tanks at my LFS. These guys are the ones that recommended this diatom filtration to me!

And here's a few of their typical diatom "bag" setups. All of these particular setups have the bags to the far left. Check em out!
