No, but have I been reading and researching a lot and have been talking to some folks in the shark forums as well. I feel confident I will have sufficient filtration to keep up w/the bioload. The answer will be in the water chemistry, some testing will give me the answers I need
Sharks need low to no nitrates. They are much more sensitive to poor water quality than most fish. Thats going to be pretty hard with all those tangs. Why are you trying to stuff so many tangs in there anyways??? Maybe with a huge tank but a 240? Kind of small for all those fish.
You think 10 tangs in a 240g is a lot? I will be doing regular wc, I have access to free filtered NSW from Scripps Pier (same water used by Birch aquarium) so it will not be hard keeping my parameters in check.
You forgot that sharks are messy eaters! I will be skimming aggressively, and I have a pretty decent sized refugium that will be full of macro and mangroves... Along with water changes this should be enough, worst that can happen is I remove some tangs and put them in my other systems or trade them for corals
10 tangs alone without the shark is alot. I would try to cut down down the tangs. I would start with the naso and dasjardini tangs first as they will become to big for the 240 imo maybe even the coral shark as well but thats the main fish in the tank. So cutting out a few tangs would help. I have 4 tangs in my 280 and adding one more i thought i would be pushing it.
I to think you will be way overstocked with that list. 240g is not that big when it is stocked - particularly with your suggested list. You have some really nice kit but it won't keep up with your animals.
They are all small right now, we will see as they grow if the equipment can keep up or not, most like will be upgrading to a 350g down the road anyways, but for now this is they official list.
