245 Great Lakes Aquarium reef build

Ya, Im happy with the spread. If growth becomes an issue I will pick up another radion or 2. I have them turned down to about 60% intensity and everything is open and looks healthy. Sps will be closer to top and soft stuff down low. It should be interesting to see what happens. I am overly pleased with the radions though. Peoples pictures on line do not give them justice. Seeing them in person will blow your mind, especially with the controllability.
Interested to see how your growth is with 3 radions. I have been told that I needed 4 due to the depth and width of the tank

I saw them at MACNA and they were awesome. I contemplating switching to LEDs and getting rid of my T5s. I think I might start with 3 also and go from there.

ya mounting was the only thing that took me a bit to figure out. I wanted something solid that was easily adjustable while still looking good. I was happy with the bosch aluminum profile stuff I bought. Will easily accept more lights and comes completely apart.

Ya the mounting holes are 5 millimeters and the lights don't weigh much so mounting possibilities are endless. I was never a fan of something hanging by a cable from the ceiling anyways.

Glad you had luck with Great Lakes because when I tried them I was sorely disappointed. I gave them drawings with dimensions for a custom peninsula tank and when it was finally ready (granted they never bothered to call me - I had to keep calling them) it was no where near correct. The black silicone looked like a 10 year old had done it and the dimensions were incorrect. I got my money and left and would never return. Good luck with yours.

Sorry to hear. I was happy with the build quality on mine. I guess it is just like anything some are good and some are not.

I have heard some about them when I comes to custom tanks. Maybe it is just one of those things they don't do well. I am happy with my 245G though I wish they hadn't tempered the glass. I bought mine used and would have like to run a closed loop.

I have one mp60 and an mp40 on the other side. Love the mp60 will eventually get another 60 to replace to 40 and move that 40 to the back wall or a frag tank. The 60 is so powerful it moves much more water and the flow is wider too. I would rather run two 60s at low to medium than 40s at full blast.
how do you like those mp60's

Quick update after frag swap, some new fish and getting more stuff from friends

rbta was acting weird thought he was going to let go and get sucked into mp60 so I threw him in the refugium for now

next thing I need is a new camera.... looking around on the forum the cell phone pics just do not cut it, nor give the pictures the justice they deserve.
