Once again, let me reiterate. You are completely missing the point, which at this point I think it has to be on purpose, because there is no way you can be that dense. I never said you can't cycle a tank in a week, I just said that probably is not the proper way to go about it. I really feel sorry for your animals. It is one thing for you to be cruel to them unknowingly due to your own ignorance, but completely different because you choose to ignore the warnings of others. Why couldn't you just use patience and maybe let your tank cycle for a month without adding anything. You have no idea what it is that your adding to your tank with that crap your putting in and what adverse results/effects that it will have on your tank. Yea your fish might "seem" happy, but how do you know that. You aren't in this for the right reasons, your greedy and thats the simple honest truth. Because you only care about what this tank means to you and getting it set up and look all nice and "pretty" as fast as possible, with disregrad to the animal life that you are inflicting pain upon. I get into a hobby to feel like I accomplised something with my own hard work and ingenuity. Cutting corners with not get you the quailty workmanship that you desire. Before you say that you are not cutting corners; you are buddy. Stuff that cycles a tank in a week equals cutting corners. You didn't do it the right way, you did it the cheap way. Once again I am not trying to be rude, and I don't think that I am rude. I am honest though.

Thanks buddy and God Bless you

Where was any negativity in that? I said I am entertained by your threads and I have repeatedly told you that I wish you the best of luck and that I'm sure your tank will eventually turn out decent. I won't post anymore on your threads but will certainly be along to read as I recieve many laughs and much entertainment from them. Again, good luck with everything.

Its cool ba barney i really appreciate all the comments thanks buddy

My clowns have been here for a month and look at them they are going strong??????

Clownfish are incredibly hardy fish. I don't think anyone's impressed that you've managed to keep them alive for a month. But it will be much harder to keep them, and especially the tang, alive when your DIY rocks really start to cure in a month or two. You want these fish to be alive for years, not months.

Seriously Deric, there is a ton of negativity in this thread, but a lot of it has been brought on by you here and in your previous threads. It's good that you always try to put a positive spin on things, but at the same time, you really to need to take everyone's suggestions into account. Nobody here has ulterior motives, they're all making suggestions in your best interest. The number one most repeated phrase in this hobby is "Nothing good happens fast." Of course we all want our tanks to look show quality ASAP, but if you're in it for the right reasons, you will take your time and let things happen naturally.

sponge inside the sump abosrbs tons of water and im topping off with salt

I gotta back it up for a second and address this. Forget about the sponge, or what they are doing to "absorb" your water, but are you REALLY topping off with salt water? Do you have a refractometer, or at the very least a hydrometer that you have calibrated against a known water volume? I'm just curious how you are getting along with the salt water top off system...

Apparently it has been working out and he has been getting along pretty well for five years now. Besides, those clowns don't seem to mind it. Maybe the OP knows something that the rest of us are missing.

It must be working really well too. Did you see the picture of the his 180 posted here

With that type of success the OP must really know what is going on!

I test my water daily with hydrometer and test strips. Im always at 1.023 Here are pics to prove it. I only top off once a week and i do weekly water changes. It takes about 3 days to evaporate when i use the sock. But sponges It evaporates alot faster

How was I being close minded and starting controversy? It is too bad that I am not in your club. From my understanding the ARC is an awesome club, but I am glad to be in my local club as it it also quite amazing.

By the way, as I don't want another of your threads to be closed, I won't bother reporting that post as it does sound quite threatening.

I am tagging along and hoping you the best. I attached that link to show all those negative people out there that your husbandry practices have really paid off. By linking to another of your successful reefs, that you posted, (while not discussing it) I was hoping that the negative attitude and naysayers might see what you really are all about--great reefing!

Im asking for help with new ideas and things i can do with my tank. I wouldnt buy fish to waste my money trust me. I knwo u didnt say that but i was just saying. but anyways thanks for all the help

Ok sorry guys I have tried youtube and photo bucket. i need to get a camcorder of some sort because the file taht my phone makes on videos wont upload i tried converting to mpg and it worked but still wouldnt upload so anyone has any other ideas?????

im not convinced your diy rock will ever fully cure. it does not look very poris at all which is extremly important for live rock to do its job. to me the look like formed chunks of cement. also hydrometers have a tendancy to be way off many times. and if yours says .023 all the time after using saltwater top offs. i would seriously consider getting a refractometer, because there is no way that can be right. and if it is, your salinity is too low.

also test strips are not great for testing your water. check into some better quality test kits.

Anyone remember WHY the last thread got locked? It was because of all the ****in and moanin that went on. The the next to last post was from a complete NOOB saying how he wasn't sure if he would ever post on here again. Next post lock. If you look back, like I just did, it is still his only post. Isn't this a forum where people come to have fun, learn, and share their experience? Not everyone on here will listen to all advice, I know I didn't. But this whole negaitve attitude crap sucks. Maybe the OP doesn't listen to your advice, maybe he does and just takes it with a grain of salt, who knows. I for one would like to see his tank make it, be succesful, and thrive, but if I was him I wouldn't have bothered with a third thread here the way he has been treated. This is to no one in particular, just a small reminder of what I thought this forum was about and to hopefully not get him a third locked thread.

For the record, there are some on this forum who are very helpfull, and have helped me through some tough times with the various problems I have.

Whoa hold on there Ryan I am a complete noob and I find it extremely rude at the way this guy is a complete douche to people trying to give him advise. I am acutally suprised that he would post on here again. Yea some people on here might be quick to call him out. But non of what he says acutally adds up. It is all fine and dandy that he says he wants help, but then why would you ignore what people are saying. Some of his info and what he says just doesn't add up, the inconsistencies are many.

Well, I'm tagging to see where this thread goes people v. derrick - I already have an idea of how the tank will turn out, but I can watch as we go along.
