250g Zoanthid Dominated Canadian Reef System

This is definitely one beautiful tank.
I love your collection of zoas! i hope one day to be able to do something like this.
My dream is to cover the floor of the tank with zoas!

I keep doing that, the result is a tank upgrade... Unfortuantly that was 2 months ago and I'm almost full already :thumbdown. Thanks for the comment!

azianreefer awesome looking tank...thanks for sharing....your electric bill must be sky high....you need to start fragging those zoas to help pay for the electric bills.
Dirty little move on my behalf: Build the tank at my step dads house
Result: No electrical bill :lol2:.

Dirty little move on my behalf: Not fragging ANYTHING
Result: A fully grown in tank

I will frag eventually, this tanks only a couple months old still has lots of growing to do. Thanks for posting!

cboy does your butterfly fish nip at your zoas? I thought they werent reef safe

This is the third in my reefing career, none of them have gone after zoas. Maybee I'm just lucky? I wish it would eat Mojenos though, they are the biggest pain in my arse growing right in between my colonies.

My bangii's are breeding again!

Four of the little guys made it through the over flow into the sump where they were collected and transported to the fuge. Have had them there for about 2 weeks now and their growing fast, I take it they have been snacking on fuge pods as I have yet to feed them.

I follow all the movements of this post from Spain.

I also love my zoo, but here we do not have as much variety as there.

I had stayed in the old post had not seen the link to this post.

forgive my writing but I'm translating the texts on the Internet understand some words but as much as I wanted

Nice tank and I love the mangroves. Very clean and polished. Job well done.

Nothing to worry about, hello from Canada!! Thanks for the complement.

Few randoms:

Thought I lost my "hornets" during the tank transfer, turns out they were just growing on the underside of a rock .

This is random..but your live rock is fantastic. I think it really adds to the colors of the zoas and gives an amazing live ocean feel to the tank. Awesome idea with the zoa's and SPS. Very cool tank

This tank is seriously incredible....as are your photography skills.

Great shots...I can't wait for a few more months to where there isn't anymore room on the substrate!

Solution:

New rule: ASTRINIA STARFISH ARE NOT FRIENDS!!@

I wasn't sure if the Har. Shrimp would go after the little guys as all the forum reading I have been doing is all over the map! Lucky enough he had a big one in his mouth within 5 mins of being introduced to the tank.

New Fish photos:

The Bartletts are what you would call "Camera Hogs", funny little fish. We also picked up a healthy little Blue Caribbean Tang as the Yellow tang and Majestic were just caught.

i have had nice colonies of zoas before when i first started keeping corals just to see them vanish before my eyes . i was told by my lfs it was probably a zoa eating nudi 's and to purchase a wrasse . by this time it was way too late and i was way too frustrated . can you elaborate more on prevention of disapearing zoa 's . i it not good to keep snails as cuc when you keep zoa's . i am asking these questions now after seeing your amazing zoa tank because i would like to try again . thanks for sharing .

I was just wondering about your user name. Homage to a certain underground lyricist? Nice tank Fa sho tho. *DRAE*

Welcome to the club my friend!
Collecting and keeping these florescent little Cnidarians tends to be troublesome for the best of us, I'm drawing a blank on the author's but a recent paper out of japan noted around a 40% death rate (PY) in naturally occurring colonies in the wild. As hobbyists we can only strive to best this number, this is done by providing the ideal environment devoid of predators and irritants.

The zoanthid subforum has some amazing tips to help you out but a LFS generalizing that your problems are from nudies with no other questions is a little frustrating.

Can you answer some basic questions for me? This might help us solve your problem:
-Tank Parameters and what you measure with
-Tank Size and flow
-Fish & Inverts list
-Types of zoanthids that have melted & there location in tank
