260 Gallon Project

Is the tank going to sit inside that frame on top of the 2x4 legs, or it it supposed to sit on top of the frame itself.

Who manufactured the aquarium?

Is it a floating glass bottom? If so, you probably want to use a plywood top to support the entire bottom.

He tips the scale at 27lbs. Gotta love these little guys! How much does yours weigh?

That dog is awesome.. Extremely cute! 27lbs, he's a baby! Nice..

The tank is actually going to sit on top of the frame itself. I definatly want to put down a sheet of plywood to support the glass bottom. It's a custom made tank I believe. The glass itself is 1/2inch thick with a floating glass bottom. The stand shpild be sufficient to hold the weight right? (It's my first stand)

Great job on the basement and stand!!! It will be awesome when you have it all finished.

My wife has always wanted a Boston and just got one the 5th of January. Bailey is currently 7lbs and should be on the smaller side. Her grandfather was so small he had to stand on a pillow to get the job done. LOL

To funny! I gave him as a gift to my wife 3 years ago and since then he just doesn't stop following me around!

I think we might just have to do a Boston Terrier meet pretty soon!

Lol... Oops is good boy!

Still deciding on the light set-up, I am really leaning towards 2x250's on both ends with a 400w in the middle and using VHO's for supplemental lighting..

Skimmer, well still haven't chosen one.. Any suggestions?

Sump= 55G if anyone has one laying around or know someone who is selling one please let me know..

The dimensions of the tank are 72x30x30, still thinking about which way I want to for lighting for this thing. I am thinking about 2x250'w on the sides and a 400w in the middle with maybe a T'5 combo, but still undecided...

That is what I have now, (3) 400's were really too much not sure about the 250's on the side right now.

check out the Lumen Bright reflectors, they get all the light down into the tank. At 30" deep you will want the penetration they provide.

Pics look good, the suction cups would definitely help move these big tanks around.

Chris, thanks for the link to the stand build. I'm sure to use that when I start my stand. As far as lighting, the previous owner ran dual 400s and dual 250s with these reflectors. I can't remember the configuration, but he was very happy with them. Personally, I'd lean towards a configuration you're talking about. I still have the ballasts and reflectors if you're interested.

Thanks Haffs I am interested, ygpm..

I really want to get the lighting right on this tank, as I am hoping to buy whatever lighting set-up within the next weeks If I find one.

I will keep taking suggestions on the lighting and any equipment suggestions.

Those spider reflectors are pretty useless on a 30" tank

I had one with a 400w bulb in it, we did the par reading below the 400w with the lumen bright reflectors and got par readings above 1200 just in the water...with the spider it was around 400. Readings were taken the same day, too much light escapes out the sides whereas the deeper lumen bright sends all the light produced by the bulb downward.

I think we might just have to do a Boston Terrier meet pretty soon!

Oh, I've got a big dog too. But as for the Boston Terrier meet, lets just say that mine "does not work well with others"

Where did you get your lumen bright reflectors? That might be the route I want to take. The hight of the tank is actually 28", mis-posted some info sorry. But I still think that wouldn't make a big difference though..

My Boston was having that same problem, but introduce him to the right dogs and he'll come around after a while...
