You're the man JB NY. Nice work. Nice tools/shop.

What did you use to glue the veneer edging? Do you vacuum press?

Thanks!

I just used the heat sensitive veneer. Basically it's already got a glue on the back and comes in rolls. You take the strip and place it on the edge then slowly go over it with a hot iron and the veneer sticks to the edge. Then you just trim it up.

melev :) I bought a ton of them last year. One of the online companies was having a big clamp sale. I was able to pick up a $16 clamp for like $4 or something. Now that I have them I use them all the time.

The veneer does look nice. It looks like it matches very well. I think you may have more clamps than me!:D I built custom cabinets for a few years and aquired a few tools myself. Like you said I try to work a new tool into every job around the house. The tank is outstanding! I can't wait to see it full of SPS!

Where did you get that guide for your saw? Brand? That is slick

From a company called Eurekazone. The guide systems is close to one that Festool makes. If you don't already have a saw the festool guide might be a better deal.

Last night I unclamped the top and made the holes for the overflows and flush trimmed the sides. Unfortunately, I could not hook the dust collector to the router when I was using it for the trimming, the amount of sawdust the router kicked out was unreal.

After the routing was done I cleaned it off and had my wife help me haul it upstairs to the stand.

Here it is on the stand. Man this this is going to be big! The black thing underneath the stand is the folded sheet of neoprene I am going to use for between the tank and the stand,

The glue up came out pretty good. Looks solid.

Routers do make a ton of dust. Your workshop must be a mess at this point, instead of that pristine thing you kept posting lately. ;)

Looks real nice and beefy. Where you get that neoprene?

Acrylic routing it the worst IMO. Shavings everywhere. It's like snow all over...but you can't melt it like snow :(

When is the ETA for it being up w/ water in it?

Clean as you go. I also clean up and put everything away before I leave the workshop.

I got the neoprene at mcmaster. it was like $25. More than the $9 for pink foam at HD, but it's much thiner (1/8") and dark grey so it will not stand out when I use it.

Unfortunately the tank probably won't be put on the stand until 3/24 and then I go away for two weeks. I've also still got to finish redoing the fish room below the tank. So I'm thinking about 6 weeks from now it will be up and running.
