No - my peri pump issue is not solve yet....will try the 'suck method' today when I get home from work...no valve for me so it can't even be the valve issue...!! The water is simply not being pump up :(

No I did not as I have the other elements and would like to see how it does first before getting spur2

should have this, spur2 is the magic stuff to keep the colour nice

CALCIUM REACTOR RUNNING….

CALCIUM REACTOR RUNNING….

No luck on the peri-pump…tried ‘sucking’ and ‘blowing’ and even giving the inner rubber tube a massage but still refuse to pull up the water….. so if any of you have any more ideas, do keep them coming… I will try to get a one way valve this week and see if it helps…

Meanwhile, I hook up my local Atman pump (which I was planning to used for my ATO) as a feed pump and used the inlet valve in the CR to reduce the floor rate…. :D

Works for me as a temporary measure but still would like to get my peri-pump running…

The Reactor is very cloudy despised I have rinse the media… hopefully in a day or two running, the cloudiness will reduce. In my stupidity, I ‘ve also installed my CR pump the other way around (inlet/ outlet) and I only found this out when I switch on the pump and realize the media is not moving….. after switching the pump to the right direction, all works great.

Con't

Con't

Hehehe…. NO, my cycle is not done yet (but very close now) so I think the timing is right to start the discussion on stocking list…. :D

Below is a list of my current fishes. Most have been with me for over 9 months to a year with the exception of the Naso, which I just recently purchase three months ago. No aggression with all my Tangs and they all get along great, except for my PBT and Purple Tank that can’t be together only during feeding time

Palette tang is the most senior in there as he was the lone survivor of a massive tank crash cause by a Sea Cucumber… :eek2: He was only a 1.5cm Juv then… and of course future stocking plans…

Any comments or suggestions are welcome? I love schooling fishes and many smaller fishes as I think it will look more natural in the tank my height. At the same time, I love them tangs....

Those fishes whom are not selected to the new home will remain in my current tank as I’m planning to convert my current tank into a FWLR tank....

CURRENT FISHES IN MY 180 Gallon:
Surgeonfish Family
• 1 x Palette Tang
• 1 x Yellow Tang â€"œ how can any reef tank be without??
• 1 x Goldring Bristletooth (Yellow-eye Bristletooth)
• 1 x Powder Blue Tang
• 1 x Purple Tang (temporary housing for a friend of mine â€"œ not sure if I will keep it or return it â€"œ any opinions??)
• 1 x Orangespine Unicornfish (Naso) â€"œ female, I think?

Triggerfish Family
• 1 x Niger Trigger

Damselfish Family
• 2 x Ocellaris Anemonefish (false Percular Clownfish)
• 2 x Green Chromis (started with 10 but somehow they keep killing each other)

Angelfish Family
• 1 x Emperor Angelfish (Juv)
• 1 x Flame dwarf Angelfish
• 1 x Blue girdled Angelfish (one of my fav angel)

Dottybacks Family
• 1 x Royal Dottyback

Anthias Family
• 2 x Squarespot Anthias
• 3 x Copper Anthias

FUTURE STOCKING LIST PLANS:
Surgeonfish Family (thinking of another 2 Tangs)
• 1 x Clown or Sohal?? (frequently seen in LFS here but worried if they are too aggressive??)
• 1 x Chevron (not seen it here yet so not sure if they can get it)
• 1 x Achilles Tang (if I can find a feeding species)

Triggerfish Family(thinking of another 1 Trigger)
• Crosshatch Trigger OR 1 x Sargassum Trigger (if I can get one)

Angelfish Family(thinking of another 1 Angel)
• 1 x Regal Angelfish (tried in the past but could not get it to eat - might try again if I can get a healthy eating species) OR a Blueface Angel OR Queen Angel â€"œ which angels do you all think are less risky?? I’m leaning towards Blueface as my previous Regal just loves my Zoa…

Cardinal Fish Family (either Cardinal or Anthias schooling team)
• 8-10 x Orangestriped OR Threadfin OR Bluestreak OR Glass. (Not sure if I can get these here but have seen Banggai & Pajama Cardinal but not sure if those school??)

Hawkfish Family
• 1 x Longnose OR Flame OR Falco (undecided â€"œ love the Longnose but he does get larger compare to the other two species of Hawkfish and thus’ putting more risk on my shrimps)

Blennie Family
• 1 x Biocolor Blenny
• 1 x Redstreak Blenny
• 1 x Lawnmover Blenny

Wrasses Family(thinking of 3 types of wrasses)
• 1 x Six Liner Wrasse (used to have one â€"œ very active and eating but disappear suddenly after a year in current tank)
• 1 x Leopard Wrasse (not sure if my 2-3cm SSB is enough for him?)
• 1 x Flasher/ Fairy Wrasses (depending what I can get)

Anthias Family(either Cardinal or Anthias schooling team)
• 8-10 x Bartlett’s Anthias OR Purple Queen Anthias OR Princess Anthias

Seem like a long list but this is only a wish list and most of the adult sizes are small, apart from the Angels, Tangs and Trigger….nothing finalized so I’m open for suggestions….fire away….. !!

I LOVE to have a group of schooling fish fish â€"œ any recommendation apart from the above?? Should I go with Cardinal or Anthias for schooling or both?? The problem I have with my current Anthias are they cannot keep up during feeding time with my piggy Tangs and not sure of Cardinal as they are also timid… :inlove: :crazy1:

Everything sounds great, Ed. I think both the Anthias and the Cardinals would be great additions. I cant really comment on the Cardinals feeding though. Its good to see somebody else using an Atman pump thought. I was a bit worried when I bought mine because I hadn't seen them anywhere else but now I feel much better. ;)

I always recommend a Wrasse of the Halichoeres genus. A radiant, or melanarus, or yellow coris, or something along those lines. I'd throw a few in a tank your size. They are great pest control. They eat flatworms, nudibranchs, and pyramidellid snails.

Otherwise looks great  Can't wait to see it stocked!

Atman are great pumps...best for 'made-in-China' pumps, I think. Been using Atman pumps in my existing tank for over a year and no issues...only thing is sometimes can be a little noisy but for such a small pump, it's OK. :D

Yeah...that's a great idea saltyseaman.... why I didn't think of that?? Completely forgotten then....a friend of mine have the yellow coris and is super active.. :)

WATER TEST AGAIN

WATER TEST AGAIN

PO4 TEST

Today after work, did a PO4 test again using Salifert Test kit and results is 0.03 compare to last Sat reading of 0.5…quite a major drop :smokin:

Then I used D-D High Sensitivity Phosphate Test Kit and result is at 0.14ppm. At least it’s not off the chart :p PO4 is coming down but still have not reach the optimum level yet :uzi: However it’s only fair to mention that the test kit recommended to do the test with the lights off and my lights are on. Now sure how much difference that will make for PO4?? Will re-test again with lights off this weekend.

K TEST

Did a K Test again after 3 days dosing K Balance and the result as below:

KTest380A.jpg

KTest380B.jpg

Now that my K reading is at 380, will now dose to maintain the K level only at 2ml once 2x's/wk…

Just a quick Q? Do anyone know if K will deplete as we add corals and fishes in the tank??

TEMPERATURE

TEMPERATURE

With the fan running in my sump, my temperature is holding at 27.8 degree C with the room ambiance temperature at 29 degree C.

Can’t imagine what hottest days in Summer will be like which will likely be around 37-40 degree C here…look like I need to hook up my chiller unit after all….. :sad2:

The smaller unit on the left is for my current tank… :D

ChillerFamily.jpg

My lighting schedule is back to normal for a week running and so far no sign of GHA….however my dead rocks that is facing my veranda is now becoming green with another type of green algae growth (must be from the natural sunlight) but at least this my Turbos eat. Hopefully as I reduce my PO4, all these algae’s will be history!! At least diatoms seem to be taken care off :blown:

Looking great!

Are you using a phosphate reactor to remove the phosphate??

Thanks Ryan - no phosphate reactor for me as I run a zeo system which is a ultra low nutrient systems and as the system mature, ideally it should keep my NO3 and PO4 to zero... :D

ed, did the angel spp you have in old tank ever nip your sps or lps?? i like angel fish, but just worry destroy the reef.
btw you tank so far so good. zeovit is good systm, just remember must follow the dose & patient, my friend fail in zeo systm cause they want rush systm,by dosing extra, end up crash.:) :)
