Hi Pak Johan,

I'm lucky so far as my Emperor is only a Juv and my Bluegriled Angel and Flame so far is behaving... in the past, my Flame likes my Elegant Corals (have 2 and he completely wipe out one) but somehow leave the other one alone...

Anyway, so far so good so keeping my fingers cross...

SOLARIS 1-SERIES REVIEW – 1 MONTH

SOLARIS 1-SERIES REVIEW â€"œ 1 MONTH

30 May, 2008 (Friday)

1st month of used and I must say I’m extremely please with the light fixture…no issues with light spread here…. seem to cover the width of my tank pretty well. In fact, IMHO, if my tank was 90cm width, it will still be fine, as currently I have reduced the intensity of the lights, in order not to bleach my corals.

So far no blown LED and squeaky fan like in previous H model… I must say it’s very silence and I can hardly hear the fan comes on, unless I put my ears next to the fan fixture…

The lunar cycle is amazing but at times confusing as the moonlight has different brightness at different days/time……. Not sure if it’s really benefit the corals and fishes but for sure it’s a lot of fun to watch.

Will see if I can borrow a Par or a Lux meter one of these days to see what sort of par /lux reading I’m getting…!! Any of you guys want to borrow me one?? :D

Notice the shadows under the rocks â€"œ the LED are very precise (each LED acts like a powerful spot light) so my advise for those who are planning to purchased this type of lighting is to planned your aquascape really well in order for the lights to reach your coral placement.

You can see from my previous post (last picture â€"œ end shot) the lights shin down like a pyramid, with the light spread narrow on the top and wider at the bottom  This is also great as you get less lights thrown off your glass panel thus’ resulting in less algae growth. :mixed:

For those who might be interested, my current setting is Auto Solar mode with reduces Whites to 30% and Blue to 50%

So far, I’m a very satisfied customer….. :love2: Now will it GROW corals?? Stay subscribe to my build thread and we will find out :lol2:

Meanwhile, I started preparing my SW for my WC this weekend!! Still yet to figure out amount of salt required for my 200L SW storage container so this going to take me a day or two to get the salinity right…

This is amazing! I am upgrading to a 200 gal tank and want to replicate your setup on a smaller scale of course. Amazing...

Great to have you on board rob020880. Let me know if you have any Q. Good luck on your build.

Cheers....

yup pretty exciting to see this thread come this far.

cant wait to see how the solaris grows corals. I have a feeling yours will be sweet. I just got my first set of MH lights hooked up. I knew that they would generate alot of heat, but damn they get hot!! I'd love to go LED in the future.

Thanks Ryan...your buld is coming along nicely too...glad your MH buzzing is norm.. yeah, MH is HOT....burn my arms a few times while trying to clean my current tank :)

WATER PARAMETER

WATER PARAMETER

OK, today I did another round of water parameter testing as below:

Readings from my controller:
➢ Temperature â€"œ 27.1 degree C
➢ Salinity â€"œ 1.026
➢ Ph â€"œ 8.11

Ph still holding above 8 during lights off…could be that my tank is near my veranda and the sliding doors are open all the time thus’ allowing lot’s of air circulation, not to mention my surface aeration :p

Readings from Salifert Test kits:
➢ NO3 â€"œ 2
➢ PO4 â€"œ 0.03
➢ Ca â€"œ 420
➢ Mg â€"œ 1410
➢ dKH â€"œ 9.3 (old test kit)
➢ dKH â€"œ 9.3 (new test kit)

NO3 continue to come down but not zero yet.

My PO4 color shows an even lighter blue than 0.03 and lighter compare to my last testing. I know still a long way to go but getting there…. :rolleye1: Will continue to test using D&D test kit from now on to see how it does.

My Ca, Mg and dKH also increase ever since I activated my Calcium reactor…
:D

Readings from API test kit:
➢ dKH â€"œ 9 (cross check on Salifert accuracy)

Since the results for my dKH is quite consistent from my last 2 test, I will now continue to use my old test kits until it’s finished (not much left) and then follow by the new Salifert test kits and then follow by API test kit for general maintenance reading.:p

Reading from D-D High Sensitivity Phosphate Test Kit
➢ PO4 â€"œ 0.14 ppm

Read the instructions again and it recommended that for accurate result, to test during lights off and Ph between the range 3-9…

Results shows my PO4 is still high and I need to work on getting is to go down further…

Reading from Korallen Zucht Potassium Test Kit:
➢ Potassium â€"œ 380

Will continue dosing K Balance 2ml once 2x's/wk…to maintain it at NSW level
