2nd gig - how risky?

My LFS called me up and said they had another blue gig come in. So of course I shoot over to check it out...

It looks like its in good shape. Already attached to the rock-work. It is noticeably paler in comparison to my gig but it does look to have some brown to it so I know the zoox is still there. Mouth looks OK too. Wholesaler said that they had had it for 7-10 days.

My main question is this: what are the risks associated with introducing another gig to a tank with an existing gig? Is disease a big risk like with fish? Should I QT? Any words of encouragement or caution?

Thanks!

I would be very cautious. If sick, nems can take down conspecifics in the same aquarium. Not sure I would take the risk for the same colored nem. If it was a neon green or purple, maybe a different story . . .

Multiple Anemones is fine if you got the space for it. I got 3 Gigantea, 3 Haddoni and 1 Magnifica in my tank (420 gal tank) They are all doing well. The Giganta and Hadooni touching without problem. I have countless S. tapetum also.

You need to make sure that anemone that you add into your tank is healthy. I have lost healthy anemone from adding sick one to the tank before. Don't guess that he is well, make sure that he is well before adding him. Loosing a rare beautiful anemone that I have for a long time was very painful for me.

regardless you should not introduce a new carpet into a tank with a healthy gig in it....... or you will risk losing them both

I have multiple carpets in one tank. ALL went through treatment, 100% daily water change with meds for a week. Some went through individually, a couple pairs went through together, because they were purchased together already in the same water.
