40 Breeder FTS Thread

Sup RC,

Here is my new 40 gals breeder upgraded from a 20 gals. I will tranfer everything over this weekend. Im going to use to same light from my 20 gals. Its a 24'' t5 tek light 4 bulbs. I found these wantbe tree lamps poles from a old computer desk that my neighbor threw out. It work out great.

Looks like it is going to be a nice build. FYI - I don't know where you live but if it next to that large window you may have some serious temperature fluctuations. Plus lots of unwanted algae. Just a thought.

I live in California. The temperture is okay. The reason why i put the tank there is so i can have natural sunlight on my refugium. Im using a CPR 40 hang-on with a built in skimmer that why, plus when i had my 20 gals in front where i watch my tv it kind hard with the light on.

these look great! How many of you guys run a 40br sumpless?? I am curious what equipment you use to get around it.

I have been running my 20 gals tank sumpless for 2 years now. I just upgraded to a 40 and planning on doing the same thing. My friend got a 60 gals and all he use is a CPR 40 hang-on refugium for his tank and its been running for 3 years now.

i re-did my aquascape, and i finally like it a lot. i have moved the rocks around a few times already. tell me what you think

i ended up losing the tank to a bad choice in tanksitters but here's a pic about where i was when i left it.

i'm working on rebuilding now.

Theyammieguy, Here is the picture you ask for. They only thing in my stand is a 5 gallons bottle of auto off water and fish supply.

reef211, that looks great. Where did you say you got the light hangers from?

Timmo, I am far from being the tang police. If the fish looks happy that by all means keep it.
I really want a blue hippo tang in my 40 breeder.

I like your rock work... also, did you paint the back wall blue? I think the blue background really give a good shallow reef look.

Heres mine, pardon all the stuff on the sand this is the day after I added my RBTA and it was walking around. ~approx 1 month ago.

Something that has a gradient from bright blue to black would be nice for that... blue at the top and black at the bottom.
