Have a good look at the Profilux.

I have Aquatronica...so I can speak with experience to say that it works fine for me. I'm not pushing Aquatronica as far as it could go, but I have the following things connected/controlled:

Tank pH
Ca Reactor pH - controls CO2 solenoid
Level sensor - shuts off skimmer if collection cup fills
Temp - controls 2 heaters
Tank ORP
Ca Reactor peristaltic feed pump control
Computer Connected 24/7 allows remote access to system

I've got the SMS messaging on order so that the system will call me if it detects an error condition.

I like the reports of reliability of the Profilux, but I'm not a PC person. I've been a Mac guy since they were black & white. I still get nervous that my newest Mac is Intel-based. (That's not true, but you get the point.) I've accepted that I'm not going to get a Mac-based program, but the idea of the web interface on the ACIII is pretty tempting. I haven't found screen shots of the ACIII web interface yet. But, people that I've heard seem generally dismissive of the Neptune line-up and I've never heard why.

The Aquatronica sounds good, but the manuals that I've found are a bit, ah, on the skimpy side.

I'm really surprised at the large lack of threads talking about the different controllers and their relative merits. I went through about 30 pages off the search function and got very few actual hits.

So, I guess I've just answered my own questions. This quote from Neptune:

Also available through the web interface are the ability, view/modify the current controller program, view the datalogs, graph the datalogs, set the clock, and view the seasonal table.

The ability to work with the program and, say, turn on feeding modes and whatnot from a web browser on the Mac is awfully compelling. I miss the ability to control the dosing pump, but the interface issue is huge.

Any reasons I should run screaming away from the ACIII?

By the way, Untamed12, thanks for your time typing all that out. I know it's a pain that I asked the question before I'd done enough research to be able to frame the options in my own head.

Thanks, Catherine. I'm pretty leery of them after all of the nightmare stories of pre-firmware upgrade issues. Also, in the reviews there is a lot of functionality that's "coming," whatever that means.

Thanks! Good luck on your build and I'm looking forward to reading about it. May I ask, what ideas have you picked up?

Great work on your build, I'm thinking about doing a build thread. Thanks for the great ideas!

Oh and things are starting to move now!! We have a stand:

Woohoo!!!

Thanks!

I got up and laid on the stand. That was not pleasant at all. The bars are just too far apart for support. :)

The glass delivery is supposed to be tomorrow!

It must be nice to be getting closer to the day you can move back in and call it "'Home" again :D Are you still on schedule with the build?

It is nice. I'm so antsy to get back in I can't even begin to express it. The move-in date used to be late-September but the tank build has pushed us back to early November. Too many other things went on hold waiting for the tank to finish to hold the September schedule. :( C'est la vie, I suppose. Thanks, Jeff!

Your wish is my command! ;)

The tank builder spent some time leveling the stand today. I don't think he's done yet, as I think the floor there is "challenging."

And, glass delivery today!!!

Unfortunately, one of the small panels came with a horrible scratch. So, that one got sent back and, as long as they're making another trip, we also sent another one back that had a very minor scratch. So, the replacements should come in Monday or Tuesday.

So, the tank should still be built by the middle of next week!

NOW we're getting somewhere :D

The glass for my new tank came in today too...it's only 112 gal though :lol:

I've got to tell you, this is a looooonnnngggg thread to just now be getting glass. :) But, we're on the way now....

Who says I don't have a sense of the dramatic? :)

And I forgot to say--Congratulations on your glass delivery! Let's see some pics!

aww....the details are the funnest part of the build to me. That's why we are always wanting to setup "just one more"

Dang it Jeff, I edited the post above because I forgot to congratulate you on your glass. And then you posted again before I got it in.

So,

I forgot to say--Congratulations on your glass delivery! Let's see some pics!

It's true. It's crazy to me how much fun it is to get them set up, despite how much work it is.

Oooo. The countertops showed up today and the job supervisor rejected them all. Turns out that they made them all with the wrong profile. Fortunately, they also made all of them an inch too deep as well, so they can just cut off the old profile and cut the right one in.

The aquarium guy was over this afternoon leveling the stand. Look like that's ready for next week.

The other aquarium guy called to say that all of the basement aquariums are here. He wants to deliver them next week!

Sorry Andy, no pics yet...still have to pick it up at the local glass shop :(

Man, You are getting all sorts of news this week....You might make your deadline :lol:
