Bullitr. What's your current lighting specs, again ? Not familiar with your system

Ill be the one to say what everyone else is likely thinking:

Those pictures are either ignominiously over processed, youre running multiple KZ Fiji Purple/Purple Plus T5 supplements, or a combination of the two ...

If, for whatever reason, its the former, or any combination thereof, then it should be said there's no reason to degrade your stunningly beautiful reef with inaccurate, gaudy/chintzy post-processing.

Hope you don't take offense to this constructive criticism, as blatant as it may be.

I am running diy LEDs.You are welcome to check it out it person.Even with my current nitrate spike the color representation is as accurate I can take them because I am not a photographer nor have a skill to do so.If you can take a better picture please help me :)

I am not offended by it since most people that seen that tank thinks the corals are fake.

I will attempt to take you up on your offer, next time I'm in Los Angeles, which should be late 2012.

Again, wanted to emphasise your reef is stunning enough without the need to overly post-process photos.

What are the specs of your DIY LED system ? Thanks, for you likely having to reiterate this response.

LEDs, especially intricate DIY systems, do exacerbate the problem(s) already presented with reef photography, it must just be my phones screen resolution then ...

Right now
I have 240 3 watts diode driven by 4 150 watts dimmable driver
120 royal blues
60 whites
20 reds
20 violets
20 greens

Just let me know when ever you are LA
Hopefully my STN stop by then as my nitrates are not coming down as I wanted it to be.having 120 fishes doesn't helps! Lol

STN/RTN:

Possibly due to rapid changes in lighting spectrum/intensity with new DIY LED system, yes ? Also, the red spectrum is one that is not experienced by "most" reef building corals in the wild, as it is filtered out within the first few meters. In artificial situations it can/will cause STN/RTN ! Likely "one" of the causes of your photography enigma(s) as well ... I strongly suggest lowering these drastically, if not eliminating them.

NO3:

What is your filtration philosophy, especially in regards to NO3/PO4 ?

I have been using this diy LEDs for a while now,
My corals was doing great until I added way too many fish.

Although i burnt a lot of corals because of too much par from a china made LEDs fixtures ( no reds nor green) and my corals respond by RTNing or looking dull.

I know that there is no real benefits on using red, violet or green LEDs but it highlights some of the orange and green to somewhat mimic what metal halide with actinic supplement can that t5 by itself cannot. The biggest problem with LEDs is having a very disco lights effect if your taking a close up look specially on fixtures with more than 2 colors.

Also for 8 years I haven't tested my nitrates since I never had problems with them because I always used a oversize skimmer and vinegar dosing when needed.I even went 2 years without water change and my corals are looks better( under metal halide). But I never had 120 fishes in my tank before
Thanks to my fish Crazy friends from Elk Groove California.

I noticed you disappeared when there was no flash? Are you in camo mode with the tank? :lolspin::lolspin::lolspin:

As for your nitrates, where are they at now and how long has the STN been going on?
