5.56 225 Peninsula reboot

It's only April lol wait until jun to October. My advice is get a chiller. You have at least 3 to 4k worth of corals plus all your time and effort. Your place Corona it's ain't Huntington Beach

I have had chillers for years, these fans pull temp down like a 1 HP chiller... if it gets too hot for that, the lights go off.

Love Noctuas. My gaming pc has four of them. This is a great idea dude looks nice too. [emoji1303]

OK, I have to ask, what kind of box are you running that takes 4 of these fans... I know they make several sizes but most 5" fans make ~60CFM and these make over 100 CFM so your gaming box must be a monster.

My next project, because these fans make a little more noise than I like (not bad but still not silent) is to set them up to ramp up with temperature.

The plan is to set 11 profiles up for in 0.1 degree increments from 78 to 79 degrees and connect a 10V controllable power supply to APEX.

It’s really not needed but I get board and am always wanting something to do LOL

It's just two 120mm and two 140mm both rated under 2500rpm to keep the Db level down, nothing too crazy. I have a Radeon RX 580 that's sucks a lot of juice and cranks lots of heat under gaming load.

Looks good. I built a very simple and inexpensive fan speed controller years ago from plsns on RC. If I recall it only had 2 or 3 electronic parts, one being a temp sensor.

I want to integrate it with APEX so it's going to be far more complicated than yours and prone to locking up.

Don't be hateng, that's just how I roll

I had noticed some of the old turf algae coming back over the last month and it terrified me as it had completely overrun my last tank.

I was spending hours once or twice a week plucking algae and losing ground.

I devised a new eradication strategy.

I started with 3% but moved up to 12% hydrogen peroxide. I shut off all the flow including the return pump and use a Salifert tritiation syringe to apply the peroxide to the algae and let it set for a few minutes as it bubbles.

This method is fantastically effective.

I’ll try and put a video together this weekend.

If you head up north, I have a couple chillers to spare.

thanks Mario, but I don't know if I'll need a chiller. I'm expecting my photovoltaic plans back from city plancheck in a week or so, once I have the Solar up and running, I may switch to 400W radiums at which point I'll probably want a chiller LOL

For now those fans are incredible. They regulate temp within .5 degrees, usually within .2 degrees. They cool the water fast.

I have resigned myself to I'll always have the turf algae problem but at least now with the H2O2 I have a quick and easy tool to combat it with. With a 20 minute H2O2 12% spot treatment protocol, it's really quite manageable.

Small fish might get nailed but I don't think you're a small fish guy [emoji16] Female Emeralds are less aggressive also. Flip them over if the underside has a pattern like a penis then pass lol

I have a firefish and clowns. The clowns host the corner of the tank

Here's a helpful picture of male and females
