Starting to move along.. Not sure if I like the rock as they are all stacked vertically and could be hard get corals on. In the meantime, I have reserved this beautiful peice: :)

Does anyone have any thoughts on the rock? Is it ok how it is or should it be tiered more? As I've said, i plan on keeping SPS, as well as an anemone and acons.. I do have some more rock left over so could build it around whats there already...

ya i'm not a fan. It needs to be more layered/stepped so you can add corals of different light requirements. Right now you just have straight pillers from what i can tell and whatever is up top will just shade the bottom completely. Since you can't see threw the back/side don't be afraid to build it against the side/back glass. As far as your anenomes separate them on there own island stranded by sand.

I lost the whole right side of my tank 225 when my btas started splitting.

Completely redid the rock. There is a tunnel running through the middle of it all. Hopefully this will be better for corals..

So what should I do??

Corals don't get all their light from the light directly above. them So if you have columns and a coral below is slightly covered by a coral above it will still get light from lights further down in the hood. Also you can put corals that grow out like Monti Caps, Turbinaria, Mycedium, Merulina etc - even LPS like Euphylia. The world is not all acros and stags (although tabling acros would look awesome in those under-sections of column too). :)

And mostly, you should listen to Ching. :D

However, even if you leave it as it is now it wll look great when covered with coral. I think that columns give a better overall environment for fish, give more flow options, and make a tank look bigger than it actually is.

everything looks awesome why didnt you go with a failsafe siphon drain system though? even in a fish room i am sure the current drain system will be noisy...

i liked the look of the column scape better too.

out of curiosity what are you local aussies allowed to collect on the GBR? rock? fish? coral? sand, etc? do you need a license to do so or can any one collect?

very nice build thread, congratulations will defensibly be following this one.

as per your rock work, the columns setup does look a little better than the second one. my 2 cents would be combine both ideas go and if you can get a very large shelf rock that should do the trick for you, if not you can always stitch to rocks with some acrylic rods if they are available in your area to create a shelf rock as well as to stabilize the columns that will support that shelf rock.

Well.. It looks like everyone is against the current rock layout, except me . I'm gonna keep the rock the way it is just because the amount of room I get for corals, and I honestly cbf pulling it all apart again.
