540 Acylic FOWLR

Yeah better safe than sorry I might cut back a little I will have to see how it goes.I still want to have all my equipment under the stand.

ok I got the strucural part of the stand done I now need to get it onto the stand to drill some holes for the bulkheads and start the plumbing. I will finish the stand after the tank is ready to run.

pretty cool!!

I would add a tub of sand and get the red coris... they are awesome fish and soo beautiful. Just wedge it in the rocks or behind them, the coris will find it and bury itself every night.

the list looks really great, any current pics of the 90?

The pic on the first page is of my 90 and I took that about a couple of weeks ago.The tub is a good idea.I just dont know if I want the wrasse that bad.

I agree not sure it is worth it. The wrasse will bury it's self in the sand in the container and kick up all the sand!

i just left precision clarity.i seen the 540 in there, dude that is a big tank.how did you get it in your house?im going with a 96x36x24 right at 360 gallons.im not sure if you have mentioned it or not but what are you doing for filtration?tank looks awesome, cant wait to see it come together.

The tank fits exactly through the front door with the door off the hinges. Filtration I plan to get a 100 g acyrlic sump from glasscages . I would like to have two reeflo Barracuda pumps one for a MRC 4 skimmer and one for the return that would go through a 4 way oceans motion with 4 of there revolution heads.I am hoping it stays cool enough so will not need a chiller.

Is the dog there to make sure that no one touches it??? Ha ha!
Nope,it provides the protection from moisture. :D

Mositure will be too scared to form with the dog up there...

Peace...

Alright I got the tank on the stand. It looks like a Monster. I dont even have a Canopy on it yet. I now have to mark the hole on the stand then slide it down to cut each one.I am so Happy It looks awesome !!!!!!!!

I'm having a 96x30x30 being built right now, using the same overflow design as yours. I was wondering what size holes are you using for the drains and what type of system are you going to use, so it is quiet.
(durso or stockmans)

I have 1.5 return and I think 2 or 2.5 inch drain. I was just planning on use some pvc pipe, and if it makes alot of gurgling I have seen people insert a peice of small tubing. Really I dont even know what durso or stockmans are?? Please explain pics would be even better

Well the stockmans take up less room, I just don't know if they can handle a large flow. The durso, is larger , and I think they can handle large flows? I just don't know If I should use 2 - 2" drains on both sides or just one 2" on each side,. Because that would be a difference of 2 pipes or 4 pipes going into my sump!

Ok I am ready to start purchaseing plumbing. Bulkheads are first on my list. I will need at least 2 one inch for the returns and 2 1.25 for the overflow stand pipes. The tank is drilled already by the manufacturer so I do not want to change any sizes. Sorry for the small crappy pic but that is the best I got. I was thinking of two Reflo Darts One for the MR-4 skimmer. One for the return which would be spit between the two overflow return pipes. The dart would give me 2500 gph at my 6 ft of head I am hoping the two 1.25 pipes can handle the flow. This would give me almost 5x turnover through my sump. Also if the return fails I have a backup, by using the one for the protein skimmer.
Questions???????????????????
1) Is the dart good enough for a return pump on this 540 FOWLR?
2) Can the return flow be spit between two 1 inch return pipes and still have good flow?
3) I plan on making DIY durso stand pipes how would I figure the hieght of the pipe?
4) With two darts In a 70-75 degree house will I need a chiller?
