Tripstank,

The coralife luft pump makes the difference for the Berlin Airlift 60. The airpump costs more than the skimmer and you can see the difference it makes...

This skimmer is really shinning and I'm excited about the fact it fits right into the chamber out of view...

I'll be taking a picture of the skimmate as soon as I collect enough...

With the luft pump having a dial to control airflow, this skimmer is performing at high capacity...

As far as cooling, I'm going to try a fan on top of the MH, if that doesn't help, then on we go to the micro chiller...

Mike,

I picked up the Berlin Airlift but couldn't find the luft pump. So, I bought another air pump. I should have the skimmer in place some time this weekend.

Hey Reefers,

I got the coralife 1 watt moonlight today and custom installed it on the side of my metal halide...

I also took a picture of the tank with the lights on for you reefers in a hurry to see it on...

The water is still very cloudy as it won't become crystal clear until the cycle is complete...

Hey Reefers,

I wanted to share something with you all that I think might surprise you...

While at work I got a call from Scott Clark V.P. of Tru Vu aquariums. He let me know that Ken the owner at Aquarium Concepts in Hayward Ca, had led him to my thread...

He was very concerned regarding the leak, that I had experienced and any setbacks it might have caused. I was taken by that because he expressed much conern in his tone of voice...

Exactly one year ago I purchased the CPR Aquatics 6 gallon, with a major leak in the seam and worse than that, horrible customer service...

Much different with Tru Vu aquariums. He explained to me the process of creating an Acrylic tank and how an air molecule can cause a slow drip in the seam, without notice. He reassured me that a second tank with the same issue is non existent...

He was right, the second tank has been flawless in it's design and running great. I expressed to him that I have owned Tru Vu tanks in the early 90's of reefing and love the sleek design...

We spoke about how upgradeable this tank is; did you know that the return line has threaded grooves? did you know that the drip tray is removable for a reason?

Well I got the answers and was so surprised to learn, that they sell an add on to accomodate a locline onto your return line. And how about a true refugium that reefers can drop in for macro and DSB, we are talking about separate vertical chambers, not the cheap pressure glue on plastic we see on other cubes...

This was awesome news for me and I wanted to share it with all of you. For my problems with the tank, Scott is sending me out for free the add on locline...

In this hobby, customer service is something that is often overlooked by vendors. Not so with Tru Vu, they went out of there way to make sure my product was okay; that's excellent customer service to me...

Thanks Tru Vu, you guys are great!!!

Sincerely,

Mike Guerrero

About time!

About time!

About time a company gives some good customer service in this business! I have a 5.5g AGA reef tank all custom but I'm actually thinking of going acrylic (4% clearer =P)... thanks Mike, this post makse me one step closer to purchasing a 6g Tru Vu... I like the fact that you can have quality skimming on a small tank so inexpensively... I also like the canopies and bases they sell... and you def need loc-line on your return... loc-line makes great flexible spraybars that you can incorporate around your rockwork.... I wish they weren't so pricey though. Mike do you find that you have a difficult time keeping the tank clean? How do you remove algae & coraline? Thanks for being a reputable source for information and an inspiration for many people on RC / Nano-Reef =O)

NYproDJ,

I'm glad you appreciate the ground work I have done. My intent is that others will follow me and make it better... :)

Regarding the cleaning of the tank; I made sure to lay down the rocks in the center and not up against the acrylic...

Since I've owned acrylic in the past, I'm super careful not to scratch the walls. I find that the kent marine algae cleaner works the best, but I place on the end a soft paper towel....

I wrap a rubber band around the cleaner and then gently scrub up and down, to rid myself of algae, the trick is to do if more often than latter, or else it builds up and it's harder....

Regarding how clear it is to glass, there is a big difference and I love it; bear in mind I've owned beautiful 12 gallon JBJ cubes in the past; and this is much clearer than them.

Mike has every right to be a cocky bastard. :D I've seen his awesome set ups in the past. All of his tanks were inspiring and almost revolutionary. I'm looking forward to this setup's progress Mike.

Just for you Amber,

Girls girls girls....

Girls girls girls....

It's nice to see some girls in this hobby... my girlfriend is about 75% interested... which is better than half of my other reefing friend's other halves.
