Thanks for the info.

The tank is looking great. Really good growth!

I really like the rock structure that you put in the back behind the main arches. It makes a big difference in showing depth and multiple layers in the reef. I don't think you had that there originally. Good move!

Good to hear, because that is exactly why I did it!..I really need to learn how to take better video and photos though

Hey Ricardo! Another question, or two...
- what size pipe do you have feedlng your UV? I've had mine set up for several years and have it reduced from 2" to 3/4". Wondering if that is too much... I do aim for lower flow than is recommended for increased contact time.
- do you have a dedicated pump feeding the UV or use your main return pump?

Let me know how the nitrates are going. I'm in the process of starting the cycle in my new tank and still haven't decided whether I want to run biopellets, dose vodka or run a sulphur denitrator... I've used pellets in the past with mixed results and found it hard to control. Leaning towards the sulphur denitrator, although they don't seem to be that popular for some reason...

Cheers!

Hi,
My UV line does not get reduced. My entire system is 1 1/2 inch pipe.My UV is plumbed in line with my main return line, with a "bypass loop"...so I can control the input flow to the UV with a ball valve. My Nitrates are still a little high at 6-8.Biopellets still tumbling.....we will see...

We need an update on this beauty. To bad photobucket took away all the pics. Great system all around.
FYI folks, if there are threads with broken photobucket pictures you can report to the mods and ask them to fix the links. It takes them having to go in 1 photo at a time and add a few key strokes of code to get it back, and if it is YOUR post with the broken link, YOU can go in and fix the pictures simply by clicking "edit", find the link and (without any spacing) add ~original right after jpg

For example, on post 38 of this thread is the first broken picture here:

I'll simply add "~original" and viola!

IMG_0982_zpsaxd4axmn.jpg~original

You can quote this post and see exactly the difference between the 2 links. Spread the word, and sorry for hijacking your thread. Outstanding tank by the way!!!

Hi Ricardo,

How are the nitrate levels? Did you find a solution that works for you?

Would be great to see an update video! I have my new tank on order and will be using several of your ideas.

Cesar
Nitrates are 0 Skimmer is of-line, all due to my 100gallon Refugium

I shut my skimmer down 5 months ago and my nutrients have gone down because of my 120 gallon refugium. i am amazed by how efficient it is.

Supposedly N at 0 is bad for SPS, so I have been watching things closely. My PO4 is 0.025 and N is 0. I am not running any reactors and feeding heavy. The only thing I am dosing is FUEL.Maybe the system is consuming all the N.
Please tell me what you are doing with your system...

Yeah my nutrients have gone to zero so I lowered my alk to around 7.5, cut back on the intensity on my radions and started dosing Red Sea Reef Energy A and B at 25% of the suggested rate. Im not 100% happy with my colors but they are good and Im getting great growth.

Why do you think a lower ALK is necessary...do you know something I don't? I run at 9.0.

I had always read that if you have low or no nutrients its better to run lower alk levels otherwise you could burn the corals. Basically following some of the ULNS principles.
