Reefing is my middle name
Yes but when I placed a temporary ph meter in the reactor it spiked to 10. So either the meter was off or the other.
I'm confused....how were you introducing co2 into your tank if your ca reactor was clogged????
I don't know Wayne....why weren't any of your tangs effected by this?
That's very unfortunate that you lost so much. What caused the calcium reactor clog?
Sorry to hear about the losses. What is your reactor setup?
Maybe get more into growing corals and then determine if you really need 3-part. It makes more sense to use when your tank is unstable with heavy growth and you've a real need for it.

Are your levels unstable? Do you have a ton of scleractinian corals that are gobbling up elements and continually throwing off your system's balance? Then maybe you need a more hands-on control of the levels that dosing 3-part would give you. But if your system stays stable with the methods you are already using then no need for 3-part dosing yet.

Okay Wayne,
Now that you have told us the answer I am going to guess that your calcium reactor was clogged and causing problems.
I think Dave has the right idea although I have always dosed and never had a calcium reactor so that is a part of the reefing equation I have no experience with but what he advised makes sense to me. I think it's time to start adding some corals and start experimenting. If you were in Canada I would send you a bunch of frags to play with.
I'm really sorry to hear that.
This sh..t always happens when you expact it the least.
Keep your head up! You are doing a great job there and
no setback should stop you
Best wishes
