600 Gallon Upgrade Build

Hey sorry I haven't posted pics like I said, had a family emergency I was tending to. I am sorry to hear about your loss.

Sounds like you have gotten your overflow figured out. Let me know if you still need a hand with figuring it out when you get back on track. I can draw up schematics better than pictures would show anyway.

Its ok. Handle your business and I will hit you up. Thanks for offering.

So I did some work on the fish room. Basically gave it a lighter color.

I removed the QT tank into my bedroom and took out the big desk and replaced it with a small corner desk.

Lets hope I can keep them alive. Any tricks you know of?

Very finicky eaters, make sure to keep them in QT for as long as possible.
This applies to many fishes, but M. Idols are by far on the top of the difficult list. To be on the safe side, 2-3 months would be ideal. Although this may seem like a very long time, but this hobby requires patience. With the patience comes reward. Goodluck!

They are in my QT. I always keep new bought fish in there at least a month before I put them in the DT. Thanks for the input.

Never kept an idol but my LFS has a few service accounts with them, the guy said he just gets them as fat as possible during a 2 month QT before adding

Could you ask him what he fed them please. Right now they are taking and spitting NLS pellets. I will try frozen when i get my refrigerator. The one I had stopped operating after 5 power outages and I lost all my frozen food.

They usually just mix everything on hand at the store for feeding but I will ask if it's done different in the back.

Alright Wayne.

You have been silent for too long. How are things going? Have you figured out your flow issue?

Give us an update please!

Silence means Wayne has been busy working on the tank!

I am still alive. Things couldn't be better. I have my 9 year old for the summer and he has been a handful and a blessing so all of my time has been geared towards him. As for my flow issue, :deadhorse::deadhorse::deadhorse:. This center overflow is either the best thing to happen to me or the bane of my existence. Change number 1001. I will be going with the 1 1/2 in sea swirls. Deciding on either using the Dart/Snapper hybrid or the Dart Gold for each return. Probably 4 Tunzes for supplemental wave action. Probably 4 more at the bottom of the center overflow to keep detritus suspended in the water column. Your thoughts and ideas.

You are half right. More like working on the tank in my head while reacquainting myself with video games with my son. You never know how much video game shooting can clear the mind. I been thinking about lighting also and I have a card up my sleeve for that. The surprise will come during the cycling phase when I get water in the tank. September is the goal, October the latest. So until then I will be keep being occupied with both danfeig and your builds.
