Gutter Guard is available cheap from any hardware store and will do fine for what you are proposing.

You can use a beananimal version like explained....Just won't have emergency overflow, just need to ensure you keep critters out of overflow!

My best reefing friends mom died this morning. When I was going through a low point around this time last year when my younger sister suddenly passed away, she was there for me and took care of my tank for the month that I was gone. So I will be putting my build on pause and be there for here in her time of need as she was for me. I am sorry and will get back to the build as soon as I can. Thank you all.

Absolutely the best kind of friend you can have or can be. You'll never regret it.Newbie Aquarist said:When I was going through a low point around this time last year when my younger sister suddenly passed away, she was there for me and took care of my tank for the month that I was gone. Sorry for your loss, Wayne...the tank will wait...
I used that netting on my overflow, and NOTHING has gone thru it in over 2 years. From your tank pics, it looks like you can do it the same way I did, I'll get some pics asap!
You're a class act. Hope to hear back from you soon.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Please let us know if there is anything we can do to support you or your friend.
You're a good friend for helping her out. I'm local if you need anything from a nearby strangerI'm down in the Bardmoor area.
Hang in their Wayne... Reefing can wait. Love, family and friendship are much more important!
If you start a thread somewhere else on her overflow and ideas for it let us know I'll join in to help...
as you can see, I put in an acrylic 'rail' to hold the grid in place, along with the 'tension' again the top brace...hard to see, but I 'mitered' the corners of each piece, so that they fit together perfectly!...looks goods, works great! They are removable (for cleaning) but 2 years into it, and they haven't needed cleaning yet!
