600 Gallon Upgrade Build

Nice progress buddy! I agree with your thought process about the pump and plumbing situation!

Thanks dca. I had hoped I explained the process thoroughly. Fine tuning will be the key to this being a success. I just wish I had the makeshift stand taller. Well we live and learn. Happy TG to you.

Wayne, is the bottom of that wye gate going to be feeding something as well? If so wouldn't flipping the we gate upside down provide smoother water flow to the skimmer. Thanks for the updates. How long until the flooring goes down?

Which pic are you referring too? If its the one I think you are talking about, That pipe is flipped. If it was inside the stand then it would be doing what you recommend. I have it pointing the other way because the stand is short that the tank is on so I cant complete the plumbing until I get in the house. The flooring is on back order so I am still waiting.

Sump was just delivered. They drilled the wrong size holes for my drains. They will fix it tomorrow.

That's an awesome sump you got there Wayne! I like the sock holder idea for convenience sake and you'll definitely have that water reserve you were talking about wanting. I'm gonna have to stop by to see that humongous sump in person.

Thanks Chris. You know you are welcome any time. I have to come and see how your tank is progressing also.

Love your sump Wayne. Been thinking about upgrading mine to one similar. Had a problem the other night with mine not being able to handle the water volume during a power outage.

The only thing on my sump i would change differently was to have a chamber before the sock and let the water overflow into the filter socks. I would keep everything else the same way. Maybe you should drill a hole in your return line inside your overflow box so it will stop the siphon so your sump wont overflow. That is what I am going to do with my return line.

Well I made a score off Craig's this weekend. This guy had rock leftover from breaking down his tank. So I go over to check it out and I see this.

And my favorite piece

So once home I borrowed my neighbors power washer and added bleach with white vinegar to the reserve and power washed the heck out of the rocks for over two hours and rinsed them off and they are curing as we speak.

Looking great. Really liking the possibilities of the rock work
Corey

Thanks Corey. The show piece itself is 31 inches long and about 12 inches wide at its widest point. I am so hype that I dont know what to do. Each piece has so much character. I am lucky some can be stand alone so the fish can have some valley to swim in between. I feel like a kid on Christmas.

Wow... I read myself through all 27 pages... Wow is more than
an understatement!
You really got a piece of work ahead but with all
your strength you will manage!
This tank will be more than special, it's gonna be awesome:)
Though my English is not the best. I truly want to thank you
for your inspirational work!
I'm definitely following along:) And if I can help anyhow
I'll do my best!
Keep up following your way and take all the time you need.

Greetings
Mathias

I want to thank you for following along and for those words of inspiration and encouragement. The build is slow because of budget and research. I maybe off from the water date but I feel better on the inside with the wiser choices and decisions along side the support of the fellow and future reefers on this forum.
