600 Gallon Upgrade Build

Yeah I was thinking the same thing, and it's weird too, because you can quote him and everything shows up fine, so it's not like he has messed up the IMG codes and what not.

Well I reset Tapatalk. Hopefully everything is back to normal. Thanks again for the heads up guys.

Wayne how often are you doing water changes on your rock while it cycles? I thought I'd read that it's best to not do them?
But I'm confused because I think my nitrates are high in my cycling bins

Corey

I do a 100% water change every 3-4 months but I also test every week. I use my tank water from my DT for the water changes plus fresh RO/DI salt water.

There is a theory that rock traps/absorbs nitrates. I don't know how true it is but I try to keep the nutrients low. The same theory applies to phosphates but we all have seen the results with brand new rock.

Just read most of the 71 pages. Very entertaining. Cool Pug too.

A quick note on the knee surgery. I hade mine done back in may of 2012. Didn't listen to the doctor too well during recovery and now I need surgery again. Take it real slow after the procedure and good luck.

Thanks Stylo. Been following your build also. Very well done sir.

Thanks for the kind words of encouragement. I think your the only person following my build. Lol.

Nice to have you on board. Good luck with the knee!

Well as I am looking at the bottom of my stand, I noticed my plumbing was wrong and incomplete.

I know this wasn't important but I had them upside down. Meaning, the rubber gasket was on the top and when I unscrewed them it would fall. So I cut them, added the coupling, and flipped them to have the rubber ring on the bottom.

I also forgot to add the welfare schedule 80 2" true union and 1" tee that will lead to the refugium. So I went from this:

After installing the plumbing back and adding the 55 gallon tank as my refugium(now that I see I have more space the refugium might be upgraded to a 90 gallon), this more than likely be the final resting place for everything.

The ATO will be there and the skimmer will be in front.

Looks good Wayne. Question about the window....will you black it out to prevent daylight from causing algae issues in the sump, ato and skimmer?
